Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

I'm pretty sure you can go 7300 KG on the steers in Canada if you have the appropriate axle and tires.

9100 KG if it has permanent equipment like a crane or winch.

 

Most of the trucks in EU & US use 22.5 dia rims. difference being is PCD(Pitch circle diameter) of mounting studs. EU wheels have bigger pcd to accumudate planetary hubs in the wheel. Where in US planetary hub reduction axles are not used.

In Toronto there are lots of buses running on EU wheels, because they use ZF axles. New Flyer bus assembled in Winnipeg uses MAN axles.

 

I saw freightliner with mercedes steer axle, surelly it was purchased salvage in USA with damaged axle and during repare they put axle they had on yard. so front rims were European, drives - US. EU axle is more massive becouse it is designed for heavier load.

In Europe hub reduction tandems are popular becouse of better clearance, it is good for off road and construction operations.

Ouh, about rims and tires in EU. They generally use 315/70R22.5, but all other sizes are in use too. On tridem trailers they use 385/65R22.5 singles. Sometimes 19.5" and 24.5" tires are in use too.

I saw 20" and 24" tube tires on construction vehicles.

ok , but i think rim would not be problem in 10-15years , there is many things you will get problem before rim

I looked it up, AB has a maximum of 6000KG on the steer for a tractor, but for straight trucks it must be more because all dump trucks use wide tires.

What does a Scania weigh empty on the steer?

I own. Freightliner truck and mercedes actres trucks and the diffrences are :

amercian rim is 8.25 wide v. 9" both @22"5

Airbag of american truck is about 3 Eu regular size.

EU truck is easiervto drive and more comfortable but fall a part much quicker
EU truck will heat up going up hill much quicker due to fan size restriction

think of it this way,,, u going to buy a used car. Such as a cheve v. Bmw...u might get lucky with the cheve and for sure. The bmw will make u broke,,even if u gloed all the parts it ll keep falling, though. The bmwer is more comfortable and sophisitcated
