Do companies actually ask about accidents, or do they just check your driver's abstract and insurance records?

See, I've had accidents, but they were never reported to anyone. If companies were to ask me about previous accidents, I would tell them since I don't believe in dishonesty. However, I'm not sure I would just volunteer that information.

they might ask you for details about something on the abstract. I can't say I've ever been asked if there are any unreported incidents. That is the point of paying out a claim yourself, to keep your record clear.
    NO VOLUNTEERING:)

All they care about really is your demerit points. More than 6 and your uninsurable. At fault accidents usually carry with them some form of charge with demerits. A DUI on your record will also get you the boot.

At least that's how I see it in Alberta.

I can say that or give my opinion on a positive result, that if want to work for reputable company, and you have something that you positively know is on your record/abstract,maybe from even years ago ,be honest tell them . Companies have the means to dig into anybody's past , specially with the cost of insurance and the lack of good drivers. I know a fella that was recently hired , he's a professional driver and has a criminal record!! he came clean and they hired him .The company said afterwards they hired him because he was honest, and knew about his brush with the law (20 yrs ago).Something to think about .

Had my interview with Trican FSJ yesterday and today is the medical. Looks like my airfare is not wasted. They said I'm hired if the medical clears. Start date should be around Dec 1. Greenhand school in RD first. So when I get back to the island tomorrow I will give my job notice. Going to miss the lack of winter but not the lack of jobs.

Good for you! Very rarely have I seen companies here turn away workers once they have shown commitment. Winter is alright if you dress properly for it. Fort Saint John is a great place to work and you will love your paychecks. Keep us up to date.

Thanks Oilfield. Just flew back home tonight. Can't give job notice until I get the medical results. Dam they even wanted a chest xray...guess because the last one was over 10 years ago. So, hopefully the results will not take too long. They will put me up in a hotel for a month until I can find my own accommodations. From what I see that may be a challenge plus I want to move the wife up before summer too. I liked FSJ to be honest. Very friendly and has everything including the snow...lol

Hey Kw9's rock...where are you working? Are you from Winnipeg? That in-truck training could be good or bad. I had a bad experience back in 2000 but that was for long haul. Thanks for the reply.
