My application with Prime is almost verified and I expect to be invited to the psd program soon. I currently hold a Class B License and have my class A permit, I have a valid med card through march of 2015 and understand I will need a new one thus the reason for my concern. I am a large guy with sleep apnea I have been using a cpap machine for 6 years now and have no problems. I really want to get into trucking however I just started a job and have no problem leaving it to work for prime. With that being said I don't want to quit my job and go to prime only to get washed out due to my weight or sleep apnea then have nothing to go back to. does anyone know prime's policy regarding High bmi and sleep apnea so I don't end up wasting their or my time. I have asked my recruiter but she cant give me a solid answer. Any advice would be appreciated.
High bmi should I even try

I think you will be alright, you are aware of the issue, sleep apnea, and are being treated for it. Prime has plenty of drivers doing the same. As far as your weight is concerned, pretty much a non issue.
Hope this helps.Trucking Newbie 514 Thanks this. -

Prime doesn't have a problem with applicants who have sleep apnea... it's those who have been diagnosed and are not being treated. You aren't in that category, so you shouldn't have a problem. What Highway101 said. Prime also has a wellness plan for drivers... it's free if you complete the 13-week course, and its mostly painless. A lot of folks have turned their lives around with this while going down the road.

Years ago, I was told during a phone inquiry that Prime did indeed have a maximum allowable BMI. This was before the widespread use of CPAP. Have they changed their policy?

If you already use a cpap then another sleep study is not necessary.
I have been using a cpap for 3 years now.
Your machine must be equipped with an sd card to store your usage data.
You are required to provide a readout of hours used and no less than 4 hours per day to be in compliance.Trucking Newbie 514 Thanks this. -
