Hey all... i have a question about tarps i been working on a flatbed and so far i like it a lot but tbe tarps that i own are a pain to pick up expecially when its raining or snowin its almost impossible. Obviously i usually ask the forklift drivers to pick them up but my question is ive noticed some drivers have tarps that are really light. I could hold one with one hand it was so light. What do u all suggest for tarps and where can i get some??

Lightweight tarps are great...except that they don't stand for the same type of abuse..and sometimes they aren't so waterproof. 18oz and heavier seem to be good all around and don't tear while pulling off a load but are heavier. Lighter than 18oz are good to keep wrappers on product and frost off etc bit aren't heavy enough to keep dry.

There is a material called Shelter lite (not shelter rite two different materials) it is 13oz material with the strength of 18oz material. Pretty sure tri county in Bradner,Oh. carries it. I have a 16' X 16' and I love the tarp stays flexible and is durable.

That is a steel tarp or a small machinery tarp, but they will make anything you want. Bradner is maybe 25 miles south of exit 71 on the Ohio Turnpike. Tri County is at the intersection of Routes 23 and 6. 800-874-8277 They have a website too, just do a search for tri county tarp. They carry 10,13,14 and 18 oz. materials. I have some 10 oz tarps that I use on machinery, but I have to pad a lot to protect the tarp. They are not for everyone. The 13oz is more expensive. You could always go with 18oz in the center and lighter weight on the sides.
