i use the plain wiper blade method. for snow removal.
flipping on teh bunk heater helps melt the windshield too. since the defroster alone doesn't cut the mustard. unless moving slowly.
now, if your talking ice. i buy washer fluid that holds to -35. it'll melt the ice and frost. that -20 crap will freeze in them tiny nozzles and then you've got NOTHING.
never heard of the bleach or vinegar. does that help to melt the snow? or what's the purpose?tinytim Thanks this. -
I would not use bleach. I sometimes pour some alcohol in extremely cold weather, especially with snow and ice.
snowwy Thanks this. -
my grandpa told me half vinegar half water in a spray bottle will melt the ice. also on another note...come spring mix Mean Green cleaner with washer fluid, knocks them bug guts right off.

BLEACH
Do you know what that will do to your paint , when the overspray from your washers hits it , VINEGAR is a good glass cleaner but not for snow removal best to use the winter washer fluid.
-
I use Prestone De-icer for washer fluid during the winter, and have never had a problem. Carry a small broom, to sweep the major stuff off

Personally I prefer a LITTLE alcohol mixed w/winter fluid&if u run alot of areas w/heavy Salt application add a drop or two of dish detergent--helps cut the salt--BUT ONLY A DROP IR TWO AT A TIME!! Or it will foam and u will hate yourself&prolly wanna kick me--lol
062 and luvtotruck Thank this. -
Mine holds a half gallon,I put half alcohol, half -20, with couple drops of dawn.
-
Also don't try to use straight alcohol,it will evaporate to quickly. Don't ask how I know
-
I use a method as old as the windshield itself it is called a broom. Now you take out the broom you wipe off the snow then you put the broom away. For ice I use what is commonly referred to as an ice scraper it is a piece of plastic attached to a piece of wood. Both can be purchased almost everywhere. For those more technology orientated they have broom with ice scapers already attached.
moosc, CondoCruiser, Nightwind8830 and 1 other person Thank this.
