I think all of the LTL companies are going to hire dock workers from now on at 10-14 an hr, if you have your cdl it's a plus for them, but no guarantee you will drive, just covers their butt if someone goes on vacation or medical leave. Linehaul will be reduced to the bare minimum and most of it will move by subservice van, even the haz-mat. P & D will have the most drivers, but it will all top out at 8 hrs a day. This is the new model. Reduce pay and overtime as much as possible.

That Con-Way though for you. A reason why I left them. At least with a union carrier we got someone to fight for us. The teamsters are fighting for us now at UPSF to limit our sub-services. At YRC if they sent out freight and had drivers sitting they could file grievance's and get paid if they told them no work. Especially with layoffs

Nice ride Andrew. I always liked those two toned UPS volvos.

Thanks, it ashane they are doing away with it though. Now they are just brown. Guess its to save money but now we look too much like parcel. I'm happy with this rig though. Its got a Cummins isx I'm it and pulls no prob. Never thought a freight truck was this powerful, had 37k and didn't downshift at all, only to slow down. Only thing I don't like is no eng brake but I can live. If I was still at YRC all the new volvos and freightliners don't have them either.
I wasn't a fan of the cascadias though, at first I liked them and after driving a few at YRC I started not liking it too much, their was one that ran great but the others were dogs and seemed to be all over the road. I wasnt the only one who said it, but I guess it just needs getting used too. I like my Volvo better though. International wasn't bad either. -
Volvos are comfy. The turning radius is horrible on them, at least the sleeper i drove. Not sure how it is on the daycabs. But it rides like a caddy. Also not sureif the cab floats like the sleeper, but overall nice ride. Besides, you run no real hills up to where? Montgomery, you dont need an engine brake.Hahaha

Nah for Harrisburg runs. Plus it's good to have since on the island and NYC how everyone is always in a rush to go no where. I passed 8 accidents this week, one being a 13 car pile up on the BQE going towards the battery tunnel. Shut down my side as well
