Once upon a time I hear that Smith Transport was, "the best of the best" and "they reject more good drivers than some carriers employ"
Is my memory hazy or is this one to many truck stop stories?
Is Smith really 'all that'? Is it difficult to get on with them? Is getting accepted by them really a big deal? How come they don't have a sub forum here? Are there any Smith drivers around?

I heard good thing about them and their drivers seems to be very happy, nice equipment with apu nd everything its a little hard to get with them but if that's where you want to be you will get it by fill their online application follow with a call and get ready for the process, road test nd they really focus on pretrip and post trip they reject some drivers because they couldn't do a proper pretrip and they had few years experience.

Smith Transport is owned by US Xpress.

No we are no longer under the US Xpress umbrella effective early 2013... We still share some of there yards/space due to long term lease contract. The company overall is decent but just like most other carriers they have lowered their hiring standards due to driver shortage. You use to have to have at least two yrs exp but now they lowered it to 6 months,,,,

?.....................?

They (recruiting) got tired of turning drivers away with less than 2 yrs exp..Also have them a reason to cut starting pay...So I guess things have diminished slightly,,,,

So USX didn't own Smith Transport ?
I seen their buying trucks also that aren't the long nose Pete's. Saw an International Lonestar a few weeks. -
No they had abt 47% of the company from 2008-to the first part of 2013. Barry Smith has complete ownership now.As for truck he ordered new 389s coranados and cascadias. Something for everyone taste.
