sdaniel can correct me if i'm wrong as I haven't looked at the pay chart in awhile but first year progression starts at .31 with bumps to .34 at 12 months and then a penny bump each year to top out at .41

however, the payoff is in the .10 bonus for everything north of dc and all of Pa......which will amount to fully 50% or more of all runs....especially for first year guys lol they run them up there to death.....so first year half or more trips are done at .41-.44 which isn't bad newbie pay by any means. add in the stop pay on multi stop runs and layover pay for the occasional ikea headache and it adds up over the year pretty quick.

one thing I have noticed is as I get more time in and my pay goes up the northeast runs aren't as often or as many as they were the first 12-18 months.......but it still amounts to a big bump in pay over the year.

Have had trainees that came from other carriers, their training checks are usually better then their old companies solo checks. Current trainee is falling into that camp. He has over 6 months solo but under a year , so I have him for two weeks. Loves it here.

Thank you to all. I just wanted to confirm what was being told to me from company rep. I do not believe I have been speaking with a recruiter as he claims to be on site in GSO. As far as the 5-600, that is what it takes to keep the household-any more is great! I hope I can keep the schedule I have and be seeing you in early 2014.

How does training work for Epes? Is a trainer sitting in the seat observing and instructing? I have spoke with some where training is run as a team- one drives while one sleeps. Some have been trainer drives the "hard stuff" while trainee does hiway. One had you with a trainer for 6 weeks then a team member (of similar experiance-low) for 8 weeks running team.

Also, how do they address per-Diem? Is it payed or do most deduct it from taxes for the year?

No team training. They keep an eye on the milage on the trainers trucks. If it's much above the solo average it's clear what's going on and they don't allow it. It's 6 weeks with you doing all the work and the trainer doing what he's supposed to be doing.

Per diem is voluntary. You can take it or not and can change once a year if you choose.

Just for sake of example since you were asking about pay I looked up my solo first week pay stub. I did 788.35 my first week solo.

lol hey rob you correcting spelling now? that's funny.....and a hazard of the stupid iphone......laptop died so i'm stuck with the phone until after thanksgiving and i hit the sales......smartphone my ###......it's so smart it thinks it knows what i want to say better than i do and makes up words

that stupid restart rules strikes again. got in early and going back out early to make my miles and still get in for the holiday.....going to be in 38 hours and won't get a reset. under the previous rules i would have. it's just beyond getting on my nerves. that one thing is the stupidest change that has been made in my opinion. then i'll just have to piss around on recap till i get back in by the holiday.

much idiocy in the truckstop this week. pulled into the J on western indiana off 64 and 41 northwest of evansville.....typical layout several back to back rows and a row around the outside of the perimeter...........got there early enough to make sure i got a spot around the perimeter with an easy out right into the lane across. couple of others weren't so lucky. before i went to bed a swifty comes in......gets the end spot across and to the right of me.....backs in and stops about 25ft short of the truck behind him. figure he's going to get out and see how much farther he can come back. nope. pulls the brakes and shuts down right there, on the end spot, stuck about 25ft out into the lane. dummy

wake up the next morning and look out and of course the late arrivals have made spots on the ends of the rows where there aren't any. 2 parked beside the swifty and he's already in the end spot, still stuck out in the lane to his landing gear. 2 more to the other side. and of course i'm looking striaght up the lane with a clear shot out hehehe one of those things they don't tech you in school is knowing where to park when you have the choice of spots. anyway......JB intermodal about 10 spots down my left side and he's nosed in......i see his lights come on and out he comes in reverse.....or so he thinks lol now you'd think he could have just looked in the mirror and known with those 2 extra trucks parked on the end cap he wasn't getting out. he pulls back in. about 5 minutes later he tries again. he can't back even to get his center markers clear of the hole before he's right against the truck behind him. he pulls back in. about 10 minutes later he tries again. not happening. figured he'd walk over and wake the guy up on the outside to pull up so he can get out but he never got out. just pulled back in and sat there. just yet anohter reason to pick your spot wisely, much less not to nose into one like that with no hope of getting out once the late comers get in and parked.

but the real moron was off to my right. next row down and a red volvo made his own end cap on the next row down from the swift. long stretch frame pete with a reefer trying to get out of the spot about 10 down on my right. he almost got that stretched frame out far enough to turn out of the spot. almost. he needed maybe 2 feet to clear the steers on the volvo and get out. volvo guy is sitting in the front seat reading a book. pete keeps inching up to him turning thinking he's going to take the hint and roll back 2 feet and let him out. he's sitting there reading his book. finally reefer guy gets out and goes over and knocks on the door. volvo guy sits there reading his book just ignoring the guy. he beats on the door some more. other guy keeps reading and doesn't even acknowledge he's there. reefer guy gets back in his pete and inches up almost touching him and lays down on his train horn. volvo guy gets up, turns out the light, gets in back and draws the curtain. what a major prick. all he had to do was roll back 2 feet and the other guy could have gotten out. as i was leaving reefer guy was alternately laying down on the train horn and getting out and beating on the door and generally waking up and pissing everyone off. volvo guy never reappeared from behind his curtain up to the point that i left. he wasn't even in a marked spot. what an idiot.

pretty solid week. 2175 on 4.5 days out and will pull another 600 before cutoff. heading back out sunday for lakeland.

Seems like every time I do a tobacco bale load, my next load requires a food grade, clean and odor free trailer!
