Not necessarily. I don't have checks. Most of the time they will let you get by if you provide the routing number and account number.

 

^ That is all you actually need. But your answer really depends on whether the person staffing the office -- the one who was told to take a voided check -- will use a little (un)common sense.

 

Most old timers want a deposit slip and a voided check, in this electronic world some folks don't use checks, they only use a debt card, If this is the case ask your bank for the form to set up Direct Deposit they may even fill it out for you. Good Luck.

 

used to be a voided check. but lately the company's i'm going to work for has provided their own sheet for you to fill out with the account routing numbers.

my last one, however, was a voided check.

 

heck, my last company. still uses checks.

talk about a real inconvenience. specially with my bank being 60 miles away.
