Pipe spools going to Bridge City or Port Arthur,Texas. Takes all freakin day to get unloaded. Or anything going into a Nuke plant. Takes 6 hours to unload ONE 1500 lb crate. And that's after you get past security.
What kind of materal takes the longest to load and unload?

Sheet rock plant to plant, union at the front end and then union at the back end. That's ten hours your not getting paid for!
I'll just mention Shoals. . . -
I've been to the nuke plant in Oak Harbor, OH in and out. Guys are even happy to see me

Most of us have reefer tarps this time of year.
MJ1657 Thanks this. -
I can understand this cause my post was/is going to be about Chemical plants. I used to haul poly tanks every once in while for a local company that builds these tanks. Most of the tanks would go to chemical companies in south Louisiana. First you gotta sign in, talk to someone in security, watch three 45 minute safety films, get instructions on using breathing equipment in the event of a disaster, then wait to be cleared to go back, wait for safety department to contact supervisors where you are to unload & co-ordinate a time for them to meet at the unload area, then wait to be escorted back to unload area, wait on supervisor to meet with four workers & co-ordinate a route to bring forklift around. Once everyone is there, meet to discuss procedure to unload one tank. Then 45 minutes to carry out procedure in safe manner.
Total time 4 - 6 hours to unload one tank that should only take 30 minutes... in & out. This was every time. I finally got to where I wouldn't haul their tanks to plants. I would tell them I am busy with another load. (I was a hot shot LTL O/O at that time). -

How about the steel plate im waiting on... was supposed to pick up on Tuesday, but when Wednesday came and went was told maybe friday or Saturday... all for one 1.5"x48"x892" steel plate.

I have to agree anything to do with Menards is time consuming and $$ consuming. Their backhaul junk is terrible too. They tell you it's "No Tarp" freight then supply you with one of those cheap Blue Tarps that shred in the wind. Then they complain when their material gets wet. 1 time only for us and that was it after 8.5 hrs of loading time.
