I talked to one of the bosses who later found out he must have been one of the owners and we had a great conversation and he said that he did not think that Abilene would not be the best for me because I had only been driving for a company where I was home everyday. He did say that he would hire me if I decided to go OTR. He also stated that with 2 little kids at home it would be hard at first.
Now that being said I did take a job around my part of the world where I deliver windows and I am out for a couple days at a time up to a week at a time. If this ever ends for whatever reason you never know I might be coming over. We just have to wait and see. As of now the family is getting used to me being gone so that helps. Thanks for the invite though sounds like a great bunch of people.

Well, I'm officially old. I finally gave in and hired some college kids in my neighborhood to decorate the outside of our home with Christmas lights. Much better on my health. The wife was directing the decorating, I was out riding my bike. I just can't stomach climbing this ladder in my garage anymore, the one that I call my 24,000 dollar ladder. 7 years ago, 19,000 dollar knee surgery after falling off the top of it, 5 years ago 5,000 dollar ankle repair for missing the last step on my way down and giving myself a hairline fracture. The $175 to put my lights up was well worth it.
It's amazing the things that needed to be done around the house after being gone a month. Today is my getting ready to leave day. My wife got all my food prepared, all my groceries and other things I need, and I had to dig out my winter clothes. Call me spoiled, but after being in this Cascadia the last month I can honestly say it is hardly comfortable for one person, let alone two. First off, the fridge is about half the size then the Volvo, which made me go out and buy smaller tupperware in order to fit all my dinners in it. The storage closets are smaller. The wardrobe closet has no bar across it to hang clothes so I had to go buy one. Then I had to remove the bottom of the wardrobe closet so my clothes could hang down without wrinkling. It's a comfortable ride, but for two grown men it's a little cramped. The saving grace for me is it's brand new, no smokers, no other drivers leftovers and just a nice ride overall.
When I get back to Richmond on Tuesday I'll be switching into yet another new truck, this one with 38 miles on the clock. The difference between the new one and the one I have now? The one I have now doesn't have "Team Operation, Check Sleeper in Case of an Emergency" decaled on the door, that's it, and for that I need to move yet again.
I'll be leaving the house at 7am to drive up to Orlando for a 10:30 appt.Last edited: Dec 1, 2013
