thanks for informing about the mammoets, initially after viewing the video i did assume that trailer had a set of spring brakes attached to each axle

I thought I saw air lines hooked to the front of the trailer, but I cant imagine that pull truck has enough air capacity to power that many brake chambers if the trailer was equipped with them.

Notice the power unit on the back of the lead truck, There are hydraulic lines running from this unit back to the trailer which provide for the drive planetaries on the trailer axles. they also serve as braking for these type of trailers. So either there was a malfunction or the crew failed to engage the system. These heavy haul sleds (trailers) are used all over the world without this kind of result everyday. They are proven and actually the standard for moving huge loads safely. You can bet someone on the crew screwed the pooch on this one.

They are used every day moving loads hundreds of miles over every kind of terrain.

Occasionally they do screw up. I watched a Mammoet crew drop a step deck they were stacking for me.

Old video… The brakes on the Goldhoffer failed when the tether was ripped out of the remote.
