Tell me whats your favorite and most dependable 5th wheel you have operated and why did you like it. My favorite is Holland, simple Fork lock and catch. good strong deckand easy to release.

I had a Holland single jaw and hated it... Got my trailer disconnected couple times while doing a tug test.. So especially in winter time when grease gets thick I used a flashlight every time I hooked to my trailer to make sure the jaw was locked.. I switch over to Jost and liked it from a day one.. Two years later no single problem with Jost..

I like Fontaine or jost myself. The drawbar that goes across the pin makes me feel better, also I find with holland they wear out faster and need adjusting frequently.

Any 5th wheel with a trailer hooked to it loaded with 3000 lbs of freight that pays $10.00 per mile is by far my favorite :biggrin_2559:

surelly Jost. Fontane no slack 2 is good, but no cheaper aftermarket parts. Jost aftermarker parts are much cheaper.

This is a rather interesting thread. I have a holland only way I knew that was by scraping what appeared to be about 10 years worth of old grease off of it. When I eventually break down and replace that I'll buy a jost. I've heard holland has gone to #### over the years...and if they're 5th wheels are like they're landing gear I'll go with jost!

Holland/SAF is owner of part of Georg Fischer Automotive plant. Really Holland fifth wheels are a bit modified GF fifth wheels from 80-s/90-s.

I don't have any complaints with the jost on my kenworth, but I sure like the Fontaine no slack 2 that's on my new westernstar. Very nice. I'll never buy another holland.

I have seen many of the "mini" fifth wheels that Holland makes cracks on the Apron. I have a Holland but i have no complaints, only make sure the lock is engaged or like said above it will pull the jaw open.
