I think we should all obey the law the same way the president and our elected representatives do. ( I hope that smart comment don't get me in trouble with anybody )

    Great post.

If you like your health care, then you can keep it. And I only drove 60 hours this week.

to me the bottom line is if you have to ask how to "maximize"
your paper your not ready to
    same with elogs
some guys seem to run out of hours all the time
I dunno how they do that and still get only $500

They prob work for swifty and only paid 8.3 CPM = 500.00 with their fast trucks that figure makes sense. :)

Making a paper log bend is fairly easy, it's just a word problem. You've just got to fill in the variables, you already know your constants so just work it out. If you complete it and it's not adding up, you did something wrong, rework it. OR (I'm required by law to say this) just log it as you do it. If you violate by a few minutes to get somewhere to park (or for whatever reason) probably nobody is going to care. Document delays on your logs (as long as you're being truthful) and take advantage of the exceptions. This all assumes you actually know and have read the regulations, and keep up to date on the changes made to them. If you're not going to keep up, you're not going to bend your book very well.

I am not certain everyone assumes that they will get in a wreck, i.e. the big one, but I assume that if it ever did happen that the DOT would show up in black suburbans like the Gov't does in a plane crash, if it's bad I would also assume that even though your log book was correct "that" day they would go back on your paperwork as far as was needed to put the blame or fault on you

so, if you ran illegal for 4 months and then legal for 3 months I would bet that they will find the error, either log books, hwy cameras, cell phone pings, some lady taking a pic of her child and you're in the background etc.

Like I mentioned earlier, if we all stuck together then rates would rise and we could all work normal hours/miles and even if JB Hunt wants the cheap freight it still takes one of us to drive it for cheap, it all comes down to all commercial drivers, if we all, 100% of us stopped rolling for just one day I am certain the World would get the message but it can't be just the 10% that stop, it would only work if it was done old school ( before my time) but that's how it would need to be, Wild West!!!

I couldn't agree more. The sleeper split we had when they first changed the rules to 11/14 from 10/16 worked great. It allowed us to rest when tired, sleep at docks and not lose that time, It also allowed teams to drive 5 hours at a time instead of forcing them to do 10 straight.
