Steven you have no idea about what you're talking about. Until you experience it don't comment on it because of what you've read on some website. I have a camera in my truck and hate the fact that it goes off for absolutely nothing the majority of the time. You trying to tell me how the camera works is absolutely ridiculous unless you actually have one in your truck. But hell, you don't have a truck either. You'll learn a lot more about this job by watching and listening than spewing off a bunch of opinions that aren't true.

 

Why are you guys being so immature? Not to mention you hijacked the OP's thread. Steve has got the right of the discussion, a little logic and common sense tells you that. It seems like you would rather resort to name calling. It's pointless. And it certainly doesn't change the fact that cameras are coming.

As far as the idea that there is a small army of people being paid to watch clips, which is absurd when you apply common sense to the equation, it's my understanding that clips are viewed by computers which run algorithms that can determine whether or not you are driving safely.

 

Personally, I find it hard to be told by someone that has no clue how wrong I am. Steven, I think you're more suited to go into business with mom than drive a truck like dad. You should sell insurance...you're already over qualified.

 

I honestly only have a couple of things left to say about this discussion. First, I'm done with it. Many of you lack the capacity to partake in any discussion because you are 1) incapable of digesting the information provided, and 2) Incapable of understanding it, but there are a couple of small details I would address before I completely refuse to acknowledge any further response. The first is...Beer Hauler...If you believe that you have to BE a TRUCK DRIVER to understand how a basic electronic device works, you, my friend are sadly misinformed. No, I do not have your respectable 17 years of experience but your 17 years of experience where remote video surveillance cameras are concerned is worth about as much as the toilet paper in my hotel room...nothing. I respect your knowledge as a trucker, I find your ignorance concerning electronics laughable...so laughable in fact, I almost made myself puke. For your info super trucker, these cameras made thier debut over a decade ago in police cruisers and EMT vehicles. They have only recently been introduced to the civilian market and the truck industry, but they are nothing more than a simple electronic device made to send remote video and audio, I'm sorry, sir but the idea that you must be a trucker with 17 years of experience to comprehend this is ubsurd. What is more ubsurd is the fact that you decline to use an available tool that is there for everyone to use as they wish...this is after all the age of technology, the information age where anything you want to know is simply a few keystrokes away. Heck, you could build your own remote camera if you wanted...that is how simple it is to find this information. The fact that you have declined to do so, and have further declined to LISTEN to other people who have is a sad commentary on your unsurprising lack of communication skills, which, I am also afraid require at least a small degree of ability to comprehend the English language, which you sir, and you Solo Seat, have demonstrated that you lack. So let me clear this up...First, I have never said that having cameras on your vehicles is something I like, or want. As a matter of fact, I have repeatedly said...and you are too dense to get it...that I...do...not...like...them. However, reality dictates that what you like or what you want, or what I like or what I want is immaterial becaue neither you, nor I paid any money for these trucks, neither you nor I paid for the plates, permits, tags, or Authority for these trucks. Unfortunately, you...as I am...are little more than blue collar workers going where we are told, when we are told in what we are told to drive, and the people who do have the money to pay all those things including your measly paycheck have not only the right, but the money to put any thing they please in THIER trucks, and you can whine and cry like some ten year old girl, or you can learn how they function and learn WHY they function that way so you can continue to do your daily grind in relative peace, comfort and with no stress.

Next for the brain dead buffoons who can't comprehend simple English, I never said there was any benefit to the driver facing cams, as a matter of fact if you can absorb what I said and not let it slip in one ear rattle around in the emptiness inside and slip out the other ear, you will clearly see that I have already acknowledged that the driver facing cam is there for one purpose and one purpose only, and that is to control your driving habits. Those of you who don't take the effort to research are under the assumption that Big Brother is spying on you...Ohhhits a gov'ment conspir...ussey Sirus, They's coming to gets me...No, what they are doing is protecting thier investment, They will use the camera to correct your bad driving habits. Don't want to get tagged for Dancing in your cab at 60 MPH, don't do it. Don't wanna get tagged for no seat belt? Wear it. Here is the sticky for ya Beer Head, You WILL comply. You don't have to like it, you can moan and groan and cry about it all you want but you WILL do it...or you will go somewhere else, that is the bottom line, whether you like it or not and THAT my friend is what the camera facing you is there for, because some dumb**s had to kill someone watching porn on his laptop while driving. Its a sad fact that drivers can be so stupid that they will do stuff like that but now the only way for the company to put a stop to it IS to put a stop to it, and thats what the camera is going to do, it is going to stop you from doing things you know you are not supposed to do but do anyway. Don't like it? Tough titty.

My next and final point is that if you don't like any of that above, you can quit and you can go somewhere else, but the only way you are going to get away from this forever is to quit trucking, keep jumping ship till there are no more ships, or die. Anytime a government agency puts thier weight behind a "study" like this it becomes law. Yeah it will be fought, and yeah, it'll get held up in courts for a year or two, maybe three on the outside, then it will become regulation...Just like Elogs are now regulation for any company with over 50 trucks.

So I wasn't trying to convince anyone they were good. I could care less what you think about them. I wasn't trying to convince anyone to buy one, Again, I could care less. I wasn't even trying to get anyone to accept them...I was trying to point out to you that if you run from it, it is going to follow you. Maybe not in 2014, heck, maybe not even in 2015, but it'll follow you. Sooner or later there won't be anywhere left to run. Second I was trying to dispel the idiotic myths you guys have concocted in the wilderness of whatever nightmares you live in, to point out to you how ridiculous some of these things are. A truck on average kicks off 100 events a day, drive around the Burleson terminal, you could kick off 100 events in less than an hour as bumpy as that place is...No one has the time to even bother looking at everything you do. How do they know you aren't wearing a seatbelt? Because it goes off 100 times a day and the seatbelt is a flagged issue. Simple. The simple fact is that you can learn to deal with it or you can run from it, that is your only choice. It doesn't take 17 years of driving to figure that tidbit out, and as for you rookies with 0-1 years...Ohhh I'll certainly listen to your "Experience" wink wink... Good day gentlemen...and/or ladies. I'll bet anybody a hundred dollars he's back on here within 24 hours still talking about the cameras. He already said the subject was closed how many times now?

 

If you can't take someone else's opinion, you'll definitely be one of those who jumps from trainer to trainer . You seem to not handle it very well when someone doesn't agree with you.

 

Never had a complaint about the fridge in the t700, not sure about them on the t680 but lots of guys cook in the truck and store food in them.The t700 dont have an inverter but you can have one installed, the t680 as far as i remember has one from the factory.Hometime was never and issue was home late less than a handful of times in 2 years.Repairs you send a macro on the qualcomm to have repairs set up at the closest shop b le it t/a petro or any other shop they are good at getting you fixed on the road. If you need roadside for a tire or something they will send them out. If its a light and you can replace it, u buy it and send in the receipt and get reimbursed.As far as the 6 month or 1 year exp to work for them, i would call them, there are always execptions to the rules

 

He's actually shown a common sense and logical approach to the matter. I see no bias for or against cams and he has addressed both pros and cons.

You don't have to be a trucker to understand the cam issue, but you do have to have common sense.
