I know how to exempt yourself. Don't drive a truck. You'll never have to see those states. And please remember since you hate those states, exempt yourself from using goods from those states too. Enjoy your isolation.

In reading these threads, I've had to adjust my way of thinking. When I start, I'll drive when I'm told, haul what I'm told, go where I'm told for that first job. I'm getting it firmly planted in my thick noggin that I won't be the boss, and am probably just a number to that first "get my experience" company.

When I get my own authority I can do whatever I want - possibly to my own detriment if I make bad choices.

Lets remind you of a few things. You want to be truck driver. Truck drivers take freight to places that need it. Those places you named, they have the bulk of the population. Therefore any company you decide to apply and waste the recruiter's time at, they are going to laugh while crumbling up your application. You're there at the discretion of the shipper/ receiver, company and consumer. Not your own. Since you obnoxiously, and obviously have stated you aren't willing to do the job, why are you even asking about getting into trucking again?

The hell the reasons aren't relevant. If you come into my trucking company dictating that you don't want to run in some states, you better have a good reason and even then I'll just assume show you the door and wait on a candidate whose not a pain in the ###.

So what are the reasons. Don't tip toe around the question. You don't post such an off the wall inquiry and dismiss all questions why.

I'm back in El Paso, alone in a motel room, I'm out of beer and consequently I'm in a thread deleting mood tonight!

Yeah, it seems a little arrogant to ask for help and ignore all the requests for more info.

Sort of like starting in trucking and wanting to call the shots out of the chute.

I'm smiling thinking of my first job working on a farm. What would have happened if I said I wasn't going to slop the pigs or load bales. I would have had a lot of extra "free time".

I can relate to not wishing to drive in all the states you mentioned except IL. I don't understand why everyone seems to think you have to be somewhat of a slave if you are a truck driver. I'd say if you could compromise on IL and get employed on 1099 as an independent contractor then you could easily find employment and dictate where you want to go. Still plenty of states left to work with. I did exactly that for two years. No North East, east of Mississippi, not a big deal, made 60k a year.

We know it can be done, however limited, but it was suggested that to post here and read, as there may be a standard protocol for accomplishing this. We have made contact with employers that are open for a discussion around this topic. As Chinatown has previously stated, it will more or less be Regional.

Thanks for your reply which was on topic.
