Here is another one in Wisconsin and the truck is the one that misses it and might have been struck in the rear.

One of the things I most appreciate about this job is all that quiet, easy driving in which to engage the mind with stuff we don't otherwise have much time for. Thank god for audio books and You-tube; what a gold mine! The literature, science, philosophy, comedy ...all free!! (well, almost). So many of those classics I never got around to or thought would be boring - there's a reason they're classics: there great! been doing Dickens and Hardy lately, before that - everything by Lovecraft.
I use the time to sing - I'm a fairly serious student of voice. And my current aspiration is to invest in Rosetta Stone for Spanish and finally master it - a top-of-the-bucket list item.
As truckers we have to deal with a lot of solitude and even loneliness but there is definitely an up-side to it. I think that would be a good thread subject: HOW DO YOU USE YOUR DRIVE TIME.
What do you do while you're driving?Last edited by a moderator: Dec 10, 2013

I think Wal-Mart not only avoided the accident, but saved many others from being in the accident.

I agree.
But, I could not be sure, the car on the right rear might have clipped him. If so, it was not his fault, but accidents do happen beyond the control of the driver.Dinomite Thanks this. -
But they're not inevitable, so back to what I replied. Probably not the best way of thinking.

Remember when this thread was about cheating on logs?
...one thing just leads to another -
With all points considered, and all being justified in their respective opinion of driving "style"...one fact remains constant:
A driver can be in relative control of one, and only one aspect in operating in a defensive posture. The only position the driver can have a relative "control" of is the front aspect. As the aspect moves to either side and rear of the driver/vehicle being operated, "control" decreases. A driver cannot control the decisions and actions of any other vehicle, especially in a rearward aspect of the control vehicle, each side (right and left) has limited sight and an even greater corrective movement limitation from the primary driver. The true rear (behind the primary vehicle) has the greatest amount of "uncontrolability" to the primary vehicles operator.
The key to this proposition is the amount of a controllable factor the primary driver (you) can add to or equate from the surrounding aspects of each "situation". -
Reads like a text-book. Good writingotherhalftw Thanks this.

So....you are intimating this thread might be considered for nomination of a HIJACK AWARD?
