Sitting at the Pilot at I465 Exit 4 and about to sleet - as bad as the weather has been, it sure seems like that, but I meant SLEEP - for another late night trip, I happened to think of something.
As you know, I'll be starting orientation in Indy on January 20 (and I get to take the train down, not the bus!) and sitting here watching all these "aquablue trucks" stream in and out makes me wonder if there is anything I can do to improve my chances of picking my truck. One company I know gives the choice of available truck based on test scores...highest score gets first pick, second goes next, and so on.
Does GTI do anything like that? I'm sure all the equipment is in tip top shape but, for example, I would rather not have to deal with a previous smoker's smelly truck, if I can.

Good luck with that. I am on my 4th truck this year and I have spent days cleaning on each one. Two were even detailed and I still have probably 20hrs of cleaning in them after the so called detail job. Your post made me laugh since I had a razor blade out trying to get glue remnants of the dash panel on my current truck. Now I need to figure out how to get duct tape glue of the vinyl and plastic interior without stripping the color or melting it.DenaliDad Thanks this.

When I came through truck was assigned based on drivers years of experience and fleet.
Low experience = Columbia.
more experience = Used Cascadia,
real experience = New(ish) Cascadia
Last Cascadia They threw me into they had "De-Ionized" it (whatever that meant) to get rid of the cigarette smoke. Was O.k. at least in the winter. Didn't stay till spring/summer to see if it was still o.k. after it got real hot inside.
In Lathrop they had one of the gals from the office cleaning crew cleaning inside of trucks....DenaliDad Thanks this. -
You just get whatever is available. .
Other than my first truck I have always gotten new ones.. my first was a columbia but it had been detailed to the extreme...
5th truck now.. 4 new...dont want another new for awhile since this one is the best I have ever had.DenaliDad Thanks this. -
It sounds like you are excited about working for Gordon, at least from a new person's point of view. I hope that the experience is everything that you hoped for and keep us posted. I am looking for good companies to research and from the way you are describing them, they will be on my list of companies to look into.

try mineral spirits on a rag and lot of rubbing --it shouldn't strip the color used sparingly --do a test spot.
if that doesn't do spit, try lacquer thinner but be careful it is much stronger. -
It will be. I do my homework and chose the right people to listen to. And I will stay in the loop as I do my share of the 7.9%!

You're a hell of a guy. No, really!

Hope everyone's week went well....mine was a bit of a tester really....spent 2 nights in the -20's in WY then to lovely lovely coors for a load to N Vegas......isnt it nice that they have you sweep out your trailers onto the road there????? Through the Twin Tunnels with a high cube....yes I guess they really are only 13"11'!!! Relieved about that....didn't really fancy a detour up and round Loveland Pass....tough going over on 70 stopped in Richland and more heavy going on 70 and 15 the next day!! Then stopped at St George UT while they cleared a holy mess in the Gorge...in and out of Vegas up to SLC to Clackamas and now just done here at Home Depot in College Place,WA....supposed to be headed to Puyallup for a load that already has a service fail in it! 2,300 already this week and 3 days left.....
tow614 Thanks this. -
They are 13..11 .. loaded.. not empty...lol
Plus some will be 14.. I always measure them..
Better than getting to the tunnels and you get the sign that tells you to pull to the side..
If you missed the sign you will get a friendly reminder in the mail...Last edited: Dec 12, 2013
