Where does the grant money come from? Whatever organization that gives the grant money can tell you how and where it can be spent. Ask if you can spend it at a community college CDL school or private CDL school.

Just check with the School and see if there are carriers that hires students that have graduated from their school, if not that is a good sign you are not going to get anything but a box full of screws! To say the least, I know it is hard to believe that someone would want to screw someone out of something, But it is true, Be sure to be transparent which means tha you need to tell the school and any perspective employer EVERYTHING that has happened to you in your life and more importantly any tickets convictions any DUI's any gaps in unemployment because they will find it, I'm not sure how they will find it but they will. I wish ya well. welcome to trucking!

To the original poster, there is a program called Workforce Investment Act usually abbreviated WIA, that could be of assistance to you. This is a federally funded program that is administered by each state. This is a program for those who are unemployed or under-employed. Since this is the month of December, they are most likely out of money for the year. Go to the unemployment office and ask about WIA and when funds will be available. In the mean time check out schools in your area that are state qualified. The money is a grant that goes directly to the school. You do not get your hands on it; BUT because it is a grant and not a loan you do not repay the money. Obviously, the money goes very quickly when those funds are available. Therefore, when money is available you need to be able to apply and have a state approved school lined up and ready to go.
