im looking at possibly needing to move some full truck loads 10+/- cars/pickups 1200 miles from ky to nd. im almost certain that it will be cheaper to hire a car hauler than trying to find a car trailer to rent (if anyone even rents them) to haul them myself.

what kind of rates would i be likely to see for full truck loads on this distance. to hire out a car hauler

what kind of cost would i be looking at to try to haul them myself? (trailer costs, any other costs involved that is unique to car hauling?)

i would be buying vehicles and needing them hauled. im not looking to broker someone elses loads.

    A. The only car trailer you'll rent is the single car trailers from UHaul,
    B. Just hire someone and be done with it.

There is always uship. Out of ten cars they can probably get two or three there without damaging them. Just find out who pays for the damage to the other seven or eight. Based on what I've seen on shipping wars they never worry about making a profit.

    i figured as much.

trying to put some numbers together on some stuff.

but another person involved thinks we can save on transport being as im a o/o i tried explaining that with a specialized transport like cars it will be cheaper to hire it out to someone that that's what they do, and move full truckloads to keep the cost per unit down. i'm not sure what they are charging on auto transport but i would think on 10 cars 250 per car would give the carrier a bit over 2.00 a mile.

I will give the contacts a call and see what they have to say

    thank you

i talked to stretch this morning he quoted me $8900 on a full truckload i think that rate is way out there putting it at over $7 a mile on a 1 pickup, 1 drop load. on toughs kinda miles, i realize a truck is going to leave nd empty. but that seems way high.

I dont think car haulers come that cheap, at least I certainly hope not. I think if you can get it done between $4k to $5k your doing good.

Ok, you have 10 units, cars AND pickups, so that means 2 trucks, you're going from Kentucky to North Dakota, which isn't exactly the hotbed of auto transport. I don't know how you think you can get 10 units on one truck, plus you have to figure the time to load them etc. That doesn't sound like that bad of a deal.
