I have a 2006 cat.mxs ascert 550.I'm setting off the low coolant warning sensor,I will add about a couple off quarts to raise the level up atop the sensor and the code goes away sos samples do not show any leaks.
    Any ideas?

Check all of your clamps, when the engine is cold.

This is kind of a common problem if the sensor is located in the middle of the top tank. I had the same thing with my w900. It would only set the light off when it was cold out, but after about 3-5 mins idle it would expand the coolant enough to make the light go out. I have since had the light disabled in the computer. If I fill it up where it would be above the sensor on initial start up it will just blow it out the overflow in about 3 days or so. then I am right back to square one. I don't have any leaks it just likes to be about 3in below the neck on the rad when cold. I have checked the coolant when worm and it is right at the bottom of the neck so I know I'm not low on coolant. Not saying this is what is wrong with your rig, but it maybe something to think of. Oh ya with the low coolant light disabled I usually check my coolant at least every 5 days weather I see any leaks or not Just a habit. Anyway good luck I hope it's something easy

There's a few area's to check. The most common are cold water leaks that seal up when it gets warm. Check all the hoses for signs of staining. You have quite a few hard to see hoses on the right side and a couple on the left for the air compressor. It's best to check when cold, when they'd be wet. There are usually 2 heater core lines behind the the exhaust pipe. I've seen them crack at the hose clamp and only leak when the engine rocks under power, so look there close. The exhaust is right there so leaks steam up and dry out quick. The radiator cap is also a common and overlooked culprit of a slow coolant loss.

If the pre-cooler is leaking, it'll burn anti-freeze. Pull the pipe off and see if it's stained in there or smells like coolant. The air compressor head gasket can fail and push out coolant. I've seen an extreme case where coolant was in the wet tank. Usually it's just pumps air in the cooling system and pushes it past the cap.

The really bad case would be the head gasket or possibly injector cups. With cups, you can get coolant in the fuel tanks, or fuel in the coolant.

I may have missed something, but that's all I can think of off the top of my head.
