Tuesday night the temperature was suppose to drop dramatically, I drained down the air tanks and since our bottom of the line trucks don't have water separators, I cracked the fuel filter for a second. The petcock wouldn't tighten up tight,so I wrote a note about it.The mobile service company just happened to be scheduled to come in that morning. They replaced the filter because the petcock was bad.
Coming into work,my boss told me not to drain down ANYTHING when it's cold out. So I said "remember last year how the other guy had to get towed because the fuel lines froze up? What did that cost us ? { the other guy couldn't point out the filter if his life depended on it]
" Remember 2 years ago when his air lines froze up for the same reason ? What did that cost us?" [ I don't know if he could find the air tanks either ]

The boss said I don't care !...... " even if there is 6 gallons of water in the air tank? I asked " no ! he replied again I said " You use to be a truck driver" he said " I'm still a truck driver......... "not with answers like that" I said

When the ones in charge make such idiotic "orders", I'd have no problem with just saying "OK" and letting them hang themselves later
and "own it", except the one that also ends up paying is the driver (lost time, lost pay, & usually major inconvenience "somewhere").
Wish they could "own it" all themselves.

He doesn't drive anymore, so he doesn't care what happens to you. It's all bottom line, which is disgusting. That attitude has no place when it comes to safety.
