What kind of trucks does Watkins Shepard have now days? Are they switching all their trucks to automatics or will I be guaranteed a stick shift if I go with them?

They take whatever they can find that are cheap and in fairly good condition. Automatics or not they had no preference when I was there but that was a while back now!. I would take what you can get while you are still looking for a home, once you get your experience with them or whoever then you tan start looking a little closer at Equipment that they run.

The brand new trucks they are getting have autos in them. Just starting out you'll most likely be in an older one with a 10 speed

Did I read that right? You mean like "New" to them or New From the Factory? Like from a dealer? They must have a few new investors over the years, I mean they would dump unbelievableamounts of money into an older then old truck, the one I was on was on its second engine and 1 time over the top end on the "New" Engine! I was stuck in Nashville with that job for 11 days all expenses paid, except my food. WOW That is good to hear. I wish them luck.

Yup you read that right, they are leasing some new volvo a with Volvo engines and I shift. I got lucky enough to bargain my way into a kw t660 there after the freight shakerluvtotruck Thanks this.

A KW? What is that? WOW They are really showing some smarts here now! Man! New trucks a KW in the Fleet! WOW! Making ways! Good for them, Their stuff was so old it is unbelievable how they would button stuff together. Are you still there? Thanks.
-
They've had a few KW's for a couple of years now, 9 speeds.

No I left about 4 months ago, I'm more interested in doing flatbed work so I ended up going over to system transport. Nothing against Watkins at all, they ran me hard and I made decent money.
-
No matter how much experience you have they will give you a Volvo with atleast 500k miles. Do not even hope for Automatic. Senior drivers only have them 7-10 years+Last edited: Dec 16, 2013
