We are on e-logs, and not dedicated....but our miles suck mainly because we are running the I-5...restricted by speed limits and scales that do so enjoy comparing travel times to distance and times crossing the previous scale!
At least I don't have to think about where I am....that little box tells me
25(2)+2 Thanks this. -
its not about running miles, its about running when you feel rested.i dont run bout 1800-2000 a week.

I-5 sucks but you can pretty much run from Vancouver BC to National City and back in less than 70 hours easily.
But people that move trailers from one place to another or routinely run one lane are not involved in the same kind of trucking that I'm doing.
I rent out feet of deck space to the highest bidder, based in what it is, where it's going and what I THINK I might be able to get on the other end, and I provide driving services along with that rented space. Consequently, I don't always have my next move planed until it happens.
That's really quite different from people that measure their productivity based on miles per week.otherhalftw Thanks this. -
I would like to have something dedicated. But since about '99, I have been limiting myself to upper midwest regional which, more or less, might be close to the same thing as dedicated. I don't have the same routes, but do have a core group of customers I deal with. So there is nothing really the same each day or week, but I still can easily pull off 2500-3000 miles a week, be by the house once or twice a week, and off on the weekends and holidays using e-logs and not have to kill myself doing it. I will concede, that to get the maximum effectiveness out of using e-logs might require rethinking how one does their thing in trucking and makes some business changes to make it work good. But, one has to be a little flexible in how they do things because e-logs are just one of many things that are changing the landscape of trucking. Whether that is good or bad doesn't really matter. It is the cards that are being dealt and one has to learn how to play 'em. Some never will.

Hopefully a piece of space junk will take out the GPS satellites...... Doomsday. I'd have to use my paper log and atlas.
