Why would someone give me info on their client base? I'm not asking for names. More like commodities, things like that. Make haste and go be productive. Good lord. Momma didnt lie when she said there were weirdos on the net.

I wanted to stay out of this but then read that lil' bit.. and couldn't help to stick my nose in this.
I think you got this one wrong.. -
lol...sssshhhh...
Its what these lanes are SUPPOSED to pay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.... Cheap ### "What the market will bear" shippers and brokers...screwin up rates for Thousands of years!
Remember Drivers.........YOU set the rate..Dont let others set it for you -
I agree with you. Many will take bad paying trips if they have to get back home. But i have one client who doesnt want to pay for his nevada to texas. paying a joke on it. and guess what? He hasnt been able to move his load for over a week. Now im trying to convince him to pay some more on it and i'll easily find him a truck.
-
So if that shipper decides to pay more for that load, "What is your cut?" 50% ?
-
LOL. yeah right. If that were the case, everyone would be a freight broker!
-
Ok,Honestly..All jokes and secrets aside...
A LEGAL load from Nevada to Texas (assuming its from urban to urban area) Should be around $2.60 per mile TO THE TRUCK..After your cut Mrs broker.
That means...if its a 1000 mile trip..It pays $2600.00 to the truck.. Tarp-and accesssorials are Extra$$$
OP, Make sure your Nevada customer is aware of this! -
OH he is aware. He just doesn't wanna pay! Yeah you'd be offended if i told you what he wants to pay. He'll have to come around though, since obviously he needs his stuff.

At this time of the year it is usually Christmas trees out of the northwest. Northwest and midwest and maybe some last minute freight out of just about anywhere. If you are willing to look for a customer than 1-2 days before Christmas is usually the best time to hunt for one since that is when brokers/shippers are usually hurting for trucks since most drivers are home for the holidays. I have seen rates shoot up sky high right before Christmas for loads that will be running thru Christmas. An experience trucker that knows the rates and the lanes shouldn't worry about being undercut since they know that at this time of the year their services should be in demand. If you try to undercut a truck at this time of the year it could really backfire on you since there might be an unexpected rush of a demand for trucks that will demand high rates to run and the shipper you low-balled could drop you and go with another broker or carrier to get their load moved. Not saying that will happen, but it is a very good possibility so be prepared. I'm not saying you are intending to undercut anybody.I'm just giving a heads up on what to expect. Anyway, welcome to the Truckersreport from a former carrier and broker.
Nena_r Thanks this. -
For a 1000 mile trip out of a busy area should be around 3500.00 or more unless fuel dropped to below 3.00 a gallon. I used to get 3500.00 for a 850 mile trip from Ca. to Id. as a carrier from a broker.
