I know this is an old post but I am in the same position, just wanted to see how did it go and if you were able to ever get the Hazmat endorsement. Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can get hazmat and TWIC in most cases. Don't worry about the discharge; most companies don't care about that. I've worked for several companies and only one asked to see my DD-214 and he was just being nosy.

    edgarandr Thanks this.

If it's over ten years, I wouldn't say anything. Try going for a hazmat on your own, if you Come back clean and approve your good to go. Keep quiet, remember loose lips sink ships. Some times we mess up when we're young and stupid. Sometimes higher ranking guys think burning guys will get a feather in their cap. But a true warrior will try and rescue, not burn.

A BCD for UA/AWOL and failed drug screen? They gave you a 6, 6 and a kick for THAT!

Not saying it DIDN'T happen? Not saying it COULDN'T happen? But IF it did? I'd be seriously lawyering up, appealing that like no body's business to your respective branches Board of Military Corrections!!!

Now if you had a little side hustle going? That would be a horse of a different color.

Legalizing does not MATTER. It is still a schedule one Federal Drug and automatic DQ'ing against any CDL holder. And Trucking is Federal all the way.

Any time a state legalizes a drug that is still on the Federal 1970 Scheduled Drug Act passed by Congress for schedules one through four Uncle Sam holds the ultimate no.

As far as the Vet with BCD etc. Some companies will not hire for that. As far as the drug stuff. The industry is so intolerant as you are entering a dangerous situation if there is any drugs at all (Including pain killers) Once you get popped with another hot... that's it pretty much.

Ive said all I will say. It's up to the company to hire you or not. There is always 50 more without a BCD lined up to apply.
