Not surprising at all to me. I've sent dozens of apps to perspective employers, {not trucking jobs} never heard a word from any, except the ones that wanted to interview me. After the interview, if they weren't going to hire you, they just don't say anything.

    It is ignorant as far as I'm concerned, but it's just the way it is. {unfortunately}

"Uh, long distance, directory-assistance, area code 212",
I said, "Hey mama, this is Mr. Rhythm-and-Blues"
He said hello and put me on hold
To say the least, the cat was cold
He said, "Don't call us, child, we'll call you"
I said, "You got my number?"
He said, "Yeah, I got it when you walked in the door."

    Don't call us...we'll call you
    Don't call us...we'll call you

"I got your name from a friend of a friend
Who said he used to work with you
Do you remember the all-night preacher from Stereo-92?"
I said, "Could you relate to our quarter-track tape?
You know the band performs in the nude."
He said, "Uh-uh, don't call us, we'll call you."

"Listen kid, you pay for the call
You ain't bad, but we 've heard it all before
Yeah, it sounds like John, Paul and George."

Anyway, we cut a hit and toured a bit
,With the song he said he couldn't use
And now he calls, and begs and crawls,
    It's telephone Deja Vu

We got percentage points and lousy joints
And all the glitter we can use, mama,
So, huh, don't call us, we'll call you!

You may have heard this one before, too:
"Listen kid, you pay for the call
Well, you ain't bad but I've heard it all before.

    "Don't call us...we'll call you.
    Don't call us...we'll call you.

I have applied for positions (non trucking ) that were already filled. I later found out through the grapevine that they already knew #### well who they were gong to hire, but company policy and/or union contract dictated they advertise and interview a min number of candidates.

Got another one today, Talked to the CEO of a fairly large company, He said he would get with me today, he talked about me and my management skills and all that I had done up to this point in my life, in my previous career I had done every possible position up to and including owning my own company, I told him that he was impressed, with him I was starting out much less then in management and I was OK with that, and I give the gal some of my information to get things going and then I hear nothing from them? Really did this information show that I am a criminal or something I didn't know about? Thanks.

I feel ya man. I applied at several local companies and none have called back. I meet all requirements, I have a clean record, both background and driving, but they won't call.

It sucks man. I tried calling ceo's too, even HR, but most of em just go to voicemail.

Nothing to-do, but keep on fishing..we'll catch something eventually.

I had a yard manager tell me once that it's against the law for a company to tell you why they won't hire you. What's up with that crap??? And yes, they usually won't even call you back.

Have you guys looked around lately? There are 10 empty trucks to every one driver out there. Trucking companies need you way worse than you need them. Companies will fall all over them selfs to hire good drivers. If you are submitting multiple applications and no one is calling you back than you probably need look no further than the mirror to find your problem. I can tell you that no company wants to waste their time hiring someone who only sticks around 1 or 2 months. If they look at your application and you have had 5 or 6 jobs in the last year why would they hire you? If all those other companies could not make you happy than how can they?

Are you talking about paying back the student loan? With the W.I.A. ( Workforce Investment Act) you don't pay anything back.
