    They're not all THAT tiny. That supertrucker doesn't have a clue... go look at a carhauler that has a rack above the cab. Now that's a shoebox on wheels!

    I also wonder about the handleing of such a short truck, being very light so to speak, vs a reefer that weighs 50,000 behind it..

    I seen one jacknifed in the median coming into Wisconsin last week... Which made me think about this post.. And with them having the super singles and what not, I'm just curious. not a super trucker that doesnt have a "clue"

    Its the same reasoning behind a single screw day cab pulling doubles, and wondering why they are in the ditch all the time.

    They do well enough. Prime is getting rid of the little Pete 386s because they do roll more frequently than everything else in the fleet.

    It's the schedule pressure the LTL guys are under that is the driver for those accidents, not the equipment. BTW... been running wide singles for a number of years myself, and IMO they're more stable than duals.

    I've pulled 49,057 once...drivers line up saw the weight and didn't ask anything else told me to leave lol. average round 45,000 on most loads.

    On the other hand... give up a $100 for a little extra comfort/space, considering you basically live in the thing for weeks at a time.

    Might just be me, but if given the option, i'll sacrifice the 5CPM for a little more room, if given the chance. I certainly would have no problem taking a lightweight, but if it's a choice, I'll take the roomier ride.

    Hey at least Prime is offering the extra 5cpm. There's nothing stopping them from forcing drivers into the light weights at the same pay.

    Huh? What you talkin' about rookie?? After you've been in a training truck, you'll find that the condo closet you've been in ain't exactly much bigger than the lightweight closet you WILL get.

    differences between the condos and the lightweight are the condos have more storage space. lw freightliner has very very little. the lw international is actually pretty roomie inside. my buddy had the lw international and it was nice. I hate the lw freightliner. and the shifter is at a angle which took getting use to at first. my buddy got out of his lw international and they put him in the lw freightliner and he hates it.

    I guess it depends on your finances, $100 is a lot of money to me. I am looking at it from a dollar point of view, trying earn that fuel bonus they offer too.

    Fair enough. Like I said, I have no objection to a lightweight. I'm not exactly in a position to be picky, now am I?
