I would make a lease purchase for a company driver like this. Sell him a trailer no money down and keep him on as a company driver. As the company would pay the driver 80% of the revenue the trailer makes, lets say 15% of gross, so after a year or two the trailer is the drivers. Then he could use the equity in the trailer as a down payment on a tractor, or continue as a company driver and start with a second trailer. The after a while, the trailer revenue would help make the lease payment on the tractor. Just my .02

i'm not sure if this is the perfect lease purchase deal but i figure i would try it, been in it for a month now. i know someone that works for a small company out of minnesota and this is how i got my truck. i looked at a couple of dealer websites and found a truck i liked and my friend did all the work with the dealer. a 2010 kenworth t660 with 445000 miles with a cat c-13, the dealer had it listed at $55900 and my friend got it down to $41500 at 5.25% for 42 months with no money down and no ballon at the end with the options to pay it off early with no penalties, truck payment $1083.00 a month $270.75 a week. i get paid 76% of the load with 100% fuel surcharge no trailer fees, they pay for reefer fuel no qualcom fees (paper logs) i pay for every thing else like tolls, scale tickets and anything that goes wrong with the truck and i can take the truck and have it worked on anywhere i want to and so far every thing is going good. i just took a 30k load down to miami,fl from minnesota and i was averaging 9 mpg @ 60.2 mph SWEET. my average rate per mile for 11 loads is at $2.25 per mile right now.

For you, that is a sweet deal and I pray it all works out for you, and your friend. The friend that did this for you, is a good friend and I pray nothing happens to weaken that friendship. Unfortunately business can wreck a friendship faster than anything. I assume, he is the owner of the truck until you pay it off and so, it is basically like what I am planning on doing, only with an older truck.

No problem at all, I read it and glad I did. Copied and pasted the #1 post. It will be a goto page for me when I get into a truck that I will be buying. I agree with you, anyone who wants to be an O/O or is going into a L/P should read that thread.
