I would say... Get a new one!! Sleeping while you drive... Mine did that AFTER he saw how I drove and felt comfortable in my abilities... However... Driving on your log, texting while driving... Both illegal!! One would damage your career, the other one your life! Your call...gpsman, Lux Prometheus, Puppage and 7 others Thank this.

Teaming is tough; very few can do it with out disagreements. Sure, you can get a new trainer, but in a few days it will be same situation, just different things to get on each others nerves about.
Dinomite, bobbybaldwin, Joetro and 1 other person Thank this. -

If your trainer is in the bunk while you drive and you are not in a team situation, then you are not getting what you bargained for. If the trainer is in the seat and dozes off while you drive, that is pretty normal because you are a good enough driver that he feels comfortable. It is a boring job is the student isn't scaring the trainer. (I train and boring is good.)
Texting, volunteer to drive so the trainer can send a text because that is the safer alternative. Use those words. If the trainer balks, insist on driving. If he continues, contact the company.
For the clock, when you change seats, ask your trainer for his digits so you can log him in as the active driver. Do it before you roll. If he doesn't want to give you his digits, hand him the qualcom and ask him to change himself. Good luck to ya.TruckDuo, Lux Prometheus and briarhopper Thank this. -
I'd have to guess more or less normal. I think you have to evaluate how much you'd like to receive actual training and your desires to violate federal law/witness the aftermath of a truck crash. Just for S&G, how much experience does this trainer have...?

You need a new trainer, he is gambling with your license/life (obviously without your consent) as well as his. I don't know if telling the company exactly what is going on is a good idea, maybe just site personal differences or something, then get some input from your new (and hopefully better) trainer.
Lux Prometheus Thanks this. -
If a driver is texting and driving, GET OFF that truck.... and I would report him... It is dangerous to him and
others he shares the road with...Lux Prometheus Thanks this. -
Report the jerk.

I agree, get a new trainer and get out his truck as quickly as you can.
