but wow really, they deliver all the way to montana? that better be one valuable load... or maybe those long hauls are only for company drivers getting paid by the mile or hour. or an O/O with family in montana and a truck with much lower mileage than mine lol

McClatchy is on Industrial. I think that's what it is, runs beside the railroad tracks? Just west of Midkiff.

If it were me, I'd keep working on Farmer - the terminal manager, or as high up as you can get. I'd go back today or Monday and let them know that you're ready to work. Tell him that you want to watch some safety films, do a drug test and physical and put some signs on so you can haul pipe straight through the holidays while their old hands take some time off.

The biggest asset that I've ever found with any of these oilfield companies is to make them like you. Go in there and show deference to the old guys and the old-school oilfield ways, show them that you're ready to run and earn your place on their team. Persevere and it'll happen for you.

theyll probably have a hiring freeze because its extremely slow this time of year. When it picks up youll have your pick, once you do sign on do a good job so youll at least still be signed on during the slow season.
Im sure you know but a ton of other commodities can go on your trailer other than pipe, dont limit yourself to a pipe hauling co.
Me peronally, I could care less for pipe yards.

Yes-I was surprised to see Farmer up here too. It was 4 or 5 loads as I recall-the drivers were great-even helped our guys collar as we were short-handed that day. They are the real deal!

Check out Acme Truck Lines. They are all O/O oil pipe haulers. Big in Tx and La.

Is getting your own authority out of the question. It will still take 30 days, but you will be working.

^^that was the first thought that popped in my head when i heard they weren't hiring but then someone told me it would cost upwards of $4k for all permits etc. can anyone confirm this? that was really disheartening.

also i'm not totally set on hauling pipe, it's just that i bought a trailer that is already equipped to haul pipe. and i think it's too tall for a lot of things. there's just so many thousands of miles of pipe to haul around here, and the guys i know who do it are banking while only working half days. i already have a driver lined up to run my truck every day when i am done and we agreed to split his loads 50/50. so as soon as i can get to work, i could potentially be doing quite well if there are enough loads to chase

sadly i'm out of town right now, but as soon as i get back i will take d o g' s advice and show Farmer i mean business

nobody will hire me because i have 22 months experience instead of 24. doesn't matter that i have a perfect driving record. so discouraged. thinking about selling my truck and trailer at cost and giving up on the whole idea.
