Check Millis Transfer; excellent CDL school and job. $500.00 and you're good to go.

Do you have W-2 forms from previous years? You may need those. Call the school and ask what they need since you were a stay at home mom.

Celadon Trucking in Indianapolis has their own CDL school. Hometime might be better with Millis, but you can check the details on that.

i was going to say Celadon as well since they are based there in indy, and home time might be a bit easier.

your going to hear a lot of folks saying that stick with the school that trains you for that first year. keep in mind that's their opinion. for some that works outs out for others, they did better leaving and going to other places. only you can make that decision based on whats right for you.

only other piece of advice i can give is the mantra i try to live by. whether backing or just going down the road. here it is... don't hit sh**.

good luck and welcome to the show.

Yea, I'll try and keep your "mantra" in mind, thanks for the advice. I'm not really worried about "home" time right now, I just want to get into classes as soon as possible so I can get on the road. I'm not as worried about the actual driving as much as I am about learning the logs. My dad tried to explain it to me, but without actually looking at one I got kind of confused. I know that with it being Christmas no one is likely to get back to me for a couple of days about the apps I already put in, but do you have any idea how long I should wait for a recruiter to call me, or should I just pick up the phone tomorrow and start calling them. I'm really, really interested in Prime, but I guess I'll take whatever I'm offered in the beginning, after I get some actual miles under my belt I can always look for something else, right? Thanks for the input! I did check into Celadon, and the reports I read were not very good, they all seemed to be totally against or putting Celadon on a pedestal, but there were more bad reports than good. I know that all companies are different, and many people have many different things to say about the different companies depending on their experiences, not EVERYTHING is going to be rosy with every job, I'm just hoping to find someplace that doesn't sour me on the industry before I've even started.

Thank you for replying, but I've already accepted a position with C.R. England, I start school bright and early at 6am on January 6th in Gary, Indiana. Please wish me well!

Hey Christina, im new on here to. But i went to millis and is were i currently work. I like so far, training was a little rough as you get a daily set rate while you're with a trainer but once you get out on your own it pays .29cents a mile plus some bonuses after so many miles. Plus if you dont live near a school they'll arrange your transportation to and from and put you up in a motel while in school. Has to be paid back but i feel like it was worth it. Everything you see on their website is accurate and pretty true to what i have seen so far. Hope that helps.
