Alright another decent week and I'm officially at my 6 month mark as a trucker. I started trucking on June 11th of this year and I have made huge improvements but everyday is a learning experience. Back home my daughters are really acting up since I have been away and that is affecting my girlfriend a lot. Let's just say I'm the stricter parent and seemingly that is why they think that they can misbehave. So obviously I'm still looking for something local in Charlotte so that I can be home everyday. OTR will not work long term for my family and I. Also I had another drive tire issue but I expect these problems now so it doesn't bother me as much. Miles for the week:
December 2- December 9 (2811 total miles)
341 miles (DesPlaines, IL- Wright City, MO)
662 miles (High Ridge, MO- Nacogdoches, TX)
968 miles (Shreveport, LA- Statesville, NC)
840 miles (Anderson, SC- Lock Haven, PA)
Comet Transportation

This company has done a very good job of getting me home whenever I have requested. Mostly I've only asked to be home for the holidays so that I can spend time with my family. I got home on Christmas Eve and today I was given a pickup in Charlotte to deliver in Brooklyn, NY on Monday so I get the rest of the weekend home. I'm really looking forward to the New Year and I have a lot of goals that I'm trying to accomplish for my family. 2013 was my year to start a new career so that I could provide financial stability for my family. This was a very challenging year for me but I am very proud of how far I have come in just a short time. On my next post I will share my first 6 months earnings for the 2 companies that I have started my trucking career with. I hope everyone has enjoyed their holidays and is looking forward to the new year as I am!!!
December 16-December 23 (2394 total miles)
735 miles (Winchester, VA-Carol Stream, IL)

Amiller, I have followed your post from the beginning with CC and now here. You have gone through a lot with truck breakdowns, tires, a few mistakes, encountered some situations you were unsure of how to handle, and let the situation stress you out, all 100% natural and normal for a new driver.
What you have done with these trying situations, which seems to be a rarity these days, is learn from them and adapt to where these once stressfull situations you now take as the routine daily annoyances of trucking. You have a goal for yourself, and in this goal you have a balance of work and family. You are building toward a future of driving, making good money, and being with your family more.
You have a very level head and have performed high above what I have witnessed so many times with new drivers. I want to publicly commend you for the job you have done and for your professional attitude. You have the ability to go far in life, and any employer should be proud to have you on their team.
Thank you for renewing my faith in the new drivers coming along. Keep up the great job!!! -
I really appreciate those kind remarks!!! I have plenty of people to thank in my life that have helped me become the person that I am today. I just understand that great rewards come from hard work and my grandfather taught me that at a very early age. He was the grandfather that had me at age 5 waking up before sunrise in the summers or days out of school to help in the farm or work on tractors/trucks/machinery. His sternness and high level of discipline helped mold me into a hardworking person.

A hardworking person that hates backing up to a dock. Lol. Just kidding even though I know you really hate backing. We should team up you do all the driving and I'll do all the backing. Lol. Bruh I'm a few months away from getting my own rig. This company driving is for the birds.

You are so very welcome sir. You had good upbringing it appears, and you chose to follow the example. Good for you and your grandfather.
amiller Thanks this. -
Hope you enjoyed your Christmas!!! Man backing is for the birds lol. Just have loaded trailers all the time that we can just hook up to and I'd be ok or a pull through dock lol. I don't know if I'm ready for my own truck man that's extra responsibilities and I'm not sure if the money is worth it. We could start a company though lol....I'd be happy to sit behind a desk all day
