    I'm a small company owner with 3 2005/6 Volvo's and 1 2005 Mack.
i had too many repairs and breakdowns this year.
my partner advised me to take on a lease on a brand new 2013 International prostar 10 spd, with the new IPU? Sleeper warmer/a/c, the dealer has got 20+left overs on the lot and offering a 1700.00/month lease with 120k/year for 4 years term, warranty is 4 years ,bumper to bumper (so far, it's a verbal, I want to see it on paper).
it sounds pretty good so far, but I need input on these engines , transmissions and the overal performance of these trucks, I have no knowledge of these trucks. Your input is greatly appreciated
please reply with both negative and positive posts.

My question is, they say these new trucks are so much cleaner, yet when I'm near one and it's in "Regen" mode or something, the odor that comes out gives me an instant headache and about makes me sick, how can these be environmentally safe?

    Azoresexpressllc Thanks this.

Environment clean, does not mean odor free.
the bad smell is the result of the process to clean them before being released to the air.

For the Glider kits, your assuming that California is the only State that will have CARB style laws. Thirteen States are looking at adopting Carb regulations.

All of the SCR engines when they are brand new are OK , but start getting over 40 to 50 thousand miles, because of all the high temperatures they have to operate at in order to meet the new emission standards, the exhaust systems, seals, gaskets, valves, etc.., start to deteriorate causing CO fumes that contain the very toxic NOx and soot particles, that will start to seep into the cab and sleeper from the air intake systems and engine compartment and around the hood seals by the cab air intake. This can also happen when they do the "regeneration" procedure for the DPG filter. Many times when the leaks are fixed, the problem just gets worse. It is going to become a very dangerous problem for drivers as the trucks get older.

Since someone dug up this zombie thread, I wonder if this V6Killer fella is still planning to buy a LNG truck next year. And I wonder where he's going to fill it.

Lol I think people have made their stand that neither LNG nor CNG will be the immediate future of trucking. Drove a CNG truck locally for a while and it was about 40k a year per truck in maintenance. They have a long way to go.

Hehehe. Doesn't look good for autonomous trucks does it?
