Neither of those companies have a reputation for respecting their drivers. If you follow a non-company school option, your doors are opened to other companies. You could get on with Millis, Maverick, May, Watkins Shepard (do they train?), Schneider, etc.

I know this is the long shot but I am hoping when I get out of school the first company I drive for will be the only one
blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
I can respect that. That makes it doubly important to pick a company you can grow and perform with. A lot of drivers don't stick with their first company for more than a year. There are a lot of better paying gigs for drivers who have already put in their year of OTR.
I wanted to stay with my first company for a year and I enjoyed working there, but I was laid-off this month. Hopefully, that doesn't ding my hiring chances too much with future employers.blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
how can being laid off hurt your chances ?

Too many jobs in a short period of time can get you pegged as a job hopper.blairandgretchen, zincman and KW Cajun Thank this.

I understand that but there is a difference in quitting and being laid off

KW Cajun, joseph1135, TripleSix and 3 others Thank this.

most mega companies require 1 year recent otr to hire and blame it on insurance requirements, even when they are self insured. you have to be careful not to be labeled a job hopper, and to get the 1st year under your belt.... then you have to keep current experience or back to school for refresher courseBossdogg12 and zincman Thank this. -
If that were the only 2 choices I had, it would be CRST.
Have you applied with Millis Transfer, Swift, Roehl Transport?blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
Stay far away. Both of these companies push you into leasing a truck right out of training. That never works well for the driver. You have no business leasing when you dont even have experence. There are other companies that has schools if you can not do it yourself which is the best way.
blairandgretchen, zincman, KW Cajun and 1 other person Thank this.
