    You should read that again. The victim was fresh out of jail. Serrano was the driver.

    If they found him through the victim's parole officer, it might be a safe bet that he knew her.

    She probably wasn't someone he just picked up.

    I might be right about that. But not too sure about him knowing her.

    Another article seems to indicate that she was someone he picked up. Both articles state that her parole officer's information led to his identification. Not sure how that worked.

    Blood was found on the floor board of the truck too. Apparently he tried to hang himself in custody

    Seems like the victim wasn't exactly an angel either.
    She had just been released after serving jail time for fraud.
    Being as HER parole officer led police to the trucker, quite likely that she knew him, and not just a random act.

    I just love when news articles are short on info, making the reader guess at nearly everything.
