Why do some of you brokers do not want the shipment to be rebrokered?
Just wondering. Like as long as the shipment gets delivered what does it matter.

Not illegal at all(under FMCSA) If re-brokered the orignal broker has no idea if the carrier is qualified, insured ect. If there is a accident/claim it can be very hard to collect.

Would you like to make an appointment with a doctor or lawyer or a dentist only to find out he/she re booked you an appointment with some one you don't know?. Why do you think a lot of customers get mad when they have to call DELL or HP to have their questions answered only to find out they have been sent to some foreign speaking tech. that they can't understand?.Don't you think HP/DELL Should be the ones Answering the Phone?

not like brokers don't do it all the time, we have brokered loads we know for certain has at least 4 brokers between us and the shipper. the best ever was a load out of OKC, where the shippers keep going on about how his broker hated LandStar and we brokered the load from Landstar. that is why freight is on the cheap side to many fingers in the cookie jar.

It's pretty disrespectful to whoever posted the load to begin with. If I were a shipper, I'd want to know exactly who has my freight, and I would think that I'd have a right to know who has it, along with where it is at all times, if possible. It's a liability issue, and can cause customer service failures, and/or bad service.

And if I were a trucking company that absolutely needed to broker out one of my loads in an emergency situation, I'd really need to know who has my load, and if it's on my trailer, where my trailer is and who exactly is pulling it. It's common decency. And I would make sure I get the OK from my customer before I do this.

I'm thinking that 99% of double brokered loads, the original shipper (one who posted the load) isn't told that it's been re-brokered. To me, that's just plain rude.

And there is a difference between techs answering your questions over the phone, and someone who actually has possession of your property. A big difference.

Small broker has a shipment that needs to move 500 miles. He can't move it so he calls TQL, CH Robinson, or maybe Landstar and says, can you move this for me. Small broker can't move it, so he get BIG company help that gets lots of hits on there postings.
I've called up small brokers and asked, "do you have fuel advance, or quick pay?" and the broker says something like, "I don't but I can get a BIG broker to"

That's not double brokering if it's done right, it's co-brokering which is perfectly legal.

Actually double brokering IS illegal. The reason brokers don't like it is not only the quality of customer service but the liability involved as well. If a customer tenders a load to a broker who gives it to a carrier, the carrier should have all of the info he needs as far as pick up and delivery requirements. When that carrier gives it to another carrier who does the broker go to for information on his load. He has a customer to service but who is servicing him? Now lets say the 2nd carrier has an accident that is 100% the driver's fault. Who's insurance do you suoppose the victim's family is going after. Whoever has the deepest pockets. Now lets take it another direction. Lets say the 2nd carrier turns around and double brokers it. And then the the 3rd carrier. and somewhere in there the load is stolen. these are the reasons it's illegal. And for those of you that think it's not I need to introduce you to an FBI agent that I dealt with last year involving this exact issue and a carrier from the north east who not only did that to my load but a history with the feds with doing it with others
