I think you need to recalculate your cpm. You will spend $0.74/cpm or more just for fuel. There are other costs involved to accurately calculate your cpm.

Im on the Landstar "Do not use" list.

And im perfectly fine with it

Why? I bet you folks would like to know why, right?

    Business principles...Thats why.

See...........These broker/carriers like to "use" outside carriers to their advantage...Play Nice,We have no problem. Indulge and gouge..Then we have a problem.

See,Their seems to be no logical ethics committee when it comes to relative negotiation on freight rates.

Having 'control' brings others down.........Dont act like your in complete control of that customer, You can lose it just as fast as you earned it.

They put me on their 'do Not Use" List because My customer service Skills were more than they bargained for......

No,I did NOT Back-Solicit their customer...I dont work that way...........they didn't like the fact that my knowledge of that particular Lane was 100% accurate with rate and FSC......And they didn't like it.

9Pretty much stating that I 'knoiw too much" and dont want to risk anything by using my carrier service).

Hey.......They can choose to work with whomever they choose right?? Remember folks, Knowledge goes a long way in trucking..And Mega broker/Carriers hate it with a passion

.74 was just to truck,I know it seems low but it has to be..My rates are low and in response I've had to work hard to keep my cpm down.Fuel for me is .54 a mile this does not include surcharge. If you include my pay it spikes to 1.20 a mi..lol

Well, you still need to pay yourself. You also need to include things like maintenance, equipment costs (other than fuel), pm's, tires, base plates and permits, taxes, insurance, etc.,

Very true, been lazy on that front.Right now I have a maintenance account and a percentage gies in and I get work done it flows out.Have some work to do there, dont have a good grasp on what those equate to per mile.I can say in great detail what my mpg is and fuel costs but almost everything else is lacking. How can I improve that issue G/MAN thanks

Take all of your fixed costs truck payment, house payment, insurance, retirement etc. Plus a good average of your revolving expenses like gas, water, electric and dived it by your average miles per month or take a flat number of 10,000 miles. That will be a close number to your must have.

I have read many guys on here take in the .08-.12 CPM and put that into a maintenance account but that should all depend on what your current amount in one is. Tires should be pretty easy figure, how many miles are you getting out of what you run? 180K-200? Just figure the prices and do the math. I know somebody posted a pretty good spreadsheet on here somewhere that gives you all sorts of different cost boxes and you just fill in all the info and it gives you a break even per mile. Its going to be different for everybody but I know G/Man can point you in the right direction for sure!

I mean I've been here for a little over 7 months, there's an agency I always get loads from out of Richmond but they only call me first when they have a load that usually sucks and no one wants. My 2nd month here i had a week where I pulled a load for $3K for 700 miles and another $2K load for 400 miles... It's all about being in the right place at the right time.. Just keep your load alerts up, always edit the CPM when going into another area, you can have up to 4 alerts active, I can't stress the load alerts enough!!!

The way I do my cpm is fuel .54 winter .57 maintenance .15 misc .06 and I pay myself .42 for a total of 1.20 a mi . I need a better system but this 1 has been ok for last 3 yrs.i know once I move on to L/S and maybe to own authority the system I have won't be good enough.
