For crying out loud...
Let's look at the facts. He said what he did. Perhaps it wasn't the smartest move in the world, but there are waaaaaay too many people willing to throw down a lawsuit for some insignificant drivel. I'm sure I've done things that are worthy of a lawsuit, but if someone comes against me with a frivolous lawsuit, you better be prepared for the fight of your life. I'll go down swinging with everything I'm worth.
What this bud needs to be prepared for is to TELL THE WHOLE TRUTH, then if companies say "No thanks", so be it. If he's a child molester (which he isn't based on what I've read), he doesn't deserve anything from this industry. He'd quite frankly deserve prison time and would never have the opportunity to be a professional driver. I'd be the first to throw him in a cell then throw away the key.
My hope is that he's been honest and that he'll get a great position with a company who will treat him well and he in turn will do a great job for them. But please stick with the facts instead of this quibbling attitude that doesn't get anybody anywhere.
Sorry to vent like this, but some of these posts just seem entirely unwarranted and unneeded.
Happy New Year to all!SheepDog, TheDreamer and jhens111 Thank this. -
Here's the problem we face:
Some people have a criminal record, some people have DUIs, some people are registered sex offenders, some have dishonorable discharges. Everyone needs to work. Would you rather them work or would you rather pay for them? I rather they earn their own keep. It's either pay for them, kill them or let them work.
Allowing people to sit on welfare is the absolute worst thing for all of us. Agreed? So when someone comes in inquiring about work, what should we do?
OP got online and asked for some leads. He then took it on himself to beat the bushes, and got a job offer. I wish him success. I wish some of the others would be willing to take the initiative and beat the bushes looking for work. -

He said what he did?? Really?
Please provide the details of what he actually did, to warrant such a serious charge and conviction. I'm waiting...
Those of you giving full exoneration, without knowing an iota of the facts behind the conviction, are no less "judging".
It's just that you are judging in the 180' reverse. -
There's a couple things that you can do. My step son is in the same position as you and this is what he did. I don't know if it will work where you live but it's worth a shot, the worse they can say is no. His charge was from when he was a juvenile. When he got out of prison for a different case the sheriff's department told him that if he kept his nose clean, got a a job and held it, then after a year or two he could petition the court to have his name removed from the registry. Now it depends on your tier , or risk for reoffending, only you and your sheriffs department know that. That's one, and the other is simply petition the governor of whatever state you live in to give you a pardon. You have to do the work, no one is gonna do it for you as you obviously have found out with putting in apps. Good luck

I've always wondered why if we are so afraid of sex offenders reoffending that we need them to register than why the hell aren't they locked up?

I have looked and looked through this thread....and I cannot find where he ever stated what he did. Could someone please tell me what post # it was?
Witch-burning posse? Judgemental? Just because a poster asked what it was that he did? I think she was trying to clarify so as not to cast judgment. I also think since he never answered ...it probably wasnt as simple as 'cooling a brake'...or he was 18 and she was 16 1/2.
In answer to the question why dont we keep them locked up if theyre registared...the laws state we can only hold them so long.
To those of you that stated he did his time (or equivalant)..is that what you would say if a pediphile moved next door. Is that what your gonna tell your 11yr old daughter? ...He did his time so he's okay...he's cured.
There is not a cure for pediphilia. If Im mistaken please refer anything that has been proven to work.
And while your at it..look up how a pediphile works. How to everyone he seems like the best guy (or gal). How they groom not only their victoms but also their parents. At least be a little more informed before making a blanket statement...He did his time..New start.
I agree that there are too many things that can get you on the list. And that helps divert away from the dangerous ones. Makes everyone kinda blawsay..just like you see from the comments seen here. The intent of the list was to make people aware. Not look the other way.
Not to keep them from working. But to help keep the public informed.Tonythetruckerdude and KW Cajun Thank this.
