I don't know. I put in one of those online apps for flatbedding and Swift called. As soon as they offered, I accepted and told them to send me the bus ticket. I wasn't looking for a home, just a toehold. The sooner I could start, the sooner I could get out of there. If Western had called, I would have went to Western (since they do flatbed).
Its just a means to an end. Don't bother with the company history, mission statements, planting roots, feeling like family, putting my name on the drivers door of the truck or even a TV in the truck. Take the gig and go.
And when they put you in the truck with their godlike trainer, keep your teeth together. Don't feel obligated to tell an idiot that he is an idiot. Don't switch trainers because of personality clashes. Can't push my button because I don't have a button to push. Always be ready to work. Be safe and on time. DO NOT ARGUE. Get into your own truck and things lighten up. Do not let anyone talk you into doing a lease or being a trainer.
And when you're ready to jump ship, they will put a good word in for you.
Rookies make several mistakes. They get out of orientation and go back home. They're picky about the trainer. They're wanting to bring too much gear. They start making investments into a bottomfeeder company. Why make long term investments in a temporary gig? That's like buying a car or a house for a bootycall. It's a bottomfeeder! They're going to be looking to get rid of you when your obligations are done.

Swift sure seem to have a better rating on here than Western - I'm just worried about getting jacked around for my pay - that is why I'm leaving my present gig - didn't get paid this week and out of all weeks this is when my wife needed her seizure meds refilled - heck I had to put $82 in fuel in the truck the other day just to get back because the company card was bad! I sure can picke'm LOL!

Don't work for western unless you like having your head slammed into a desk and being told to take it with out lube by a company... the company isn't far from a total DOT shut down and my attorney is looking for former employees from the past three years.
tristruck1 and TruckDuo Thank this. -
Refresher is short term anyway; Western or Swift either will get you back on the road.
I read somewhere Pride Transport hires if you have a long gap in driving; not sure if this is true or not.
Several companies have refresher. Go for the quickest way back in.

Any of the big companies will find a way for you to get rolling....just stay away from Prime, they will want you to train forever....which is completely ridiculous.
Chinatown Thanks this. -

they said 3 week refresher and the drive with another driver 4 months -
15000 miles at .15 cpm with another student driver. That's what you will get paid.
