Lol. It was great once I finally got home to see the fam. You know I don't like to post when I'm upset cuz it may come off as complaining. But, I kinda got screwed I guess that's why my DM told me not to come out the house til Monday. But anyway if you can keep the loads coming then we got a good business. You already know I like to run. That is something you should look into for real. Becoming a broker would mean you could be at the house all the time. Just don't act like these clowns that are out here now and we will be just fine. Lol

We'll talk about it but right now I'm just focused on my goals for next year. How soon are you looking to get your own truck?

Let's take a trip down memory lane!!!

    http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...e-wagon/196640-wannabe-from-charlotte-nc.html

In November of 2012 I made the decision to stop working multiple minimum wage jobs, to stop living paycheck to paycheck, to start enjoying life, and finally start providing stable income for my family. I joined TTR on this day and I have found a great online community which gives great support to anyone in or around the trucking industry. This forum gives me a place to discuss anything related to trucking or life in general and it has introduced me to 2 great individuals that have helped me greatly along the way.

Chinatown, you were one of the first people to greet me on this forum and also you helped me find a company in Carolina Cargo to start my career in trucking. Thank you very much for all of your advice and also for always having positive words of encouragement. Happy New Year!!!

Realfasho, you were almost successful in getting me on with Western Express lol. We're both glad that didn't work out but I have found a brother from another mother and most importantly a good friend. You have also helped me greatly along the way with sound advice and pure realness. Thank you very much for all of your support. Happy New Year!!!

There have been others that have helped me along the way and I have thanked those individuals as well but I am specifically acknowledging Chinatown and Realfasho in this post because of the extra effort that they put in to help me along the way. Again I am very thankful for all advice and encouragement.

    http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...6-serious-question-from-a-wannabe-driver.html

The first step into trucking was to begin my WIA application for truck driving school. I found out that this was going to be a long journey as I had to wait until I got off probation before my application would be accepted. That was bad news to me at first because I was so anxious to start a new career, but I did all the legwork and it worked out for me.

Yay my first trucking job offer!!! Well so I thought. Initially I thought that I had this in the bag until further background information was requested and ultimately I was denied due to my MVR and criminal background. As I stated in that thread "I'm keeping all options open as we all know life rarely goes as expected. I keep my expectations high and my anticipation low:icon_smile:"

My 2013 New Year's Resolution "Get into trucking and provide stability for my family"

    http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...-drivers/206103-the-wait-is-finally-over.html

As the title of this thread implies, the wait was finally over. I had just completed my probation requirements in late February and I got all issues on my MVR resolved so that I could finally start truck driving school. At this point I was exhausted from the mess that I had to overcome just to get the WIA grant but I had nobody to blame but myself and I just continued to persevere toward my goal.

    http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr.../215771-my-adventure-with-carolina-cargo.html

After endless applications and everlasting disqualifications due to MVR and criminal background, I turned to Carolina Cargo for my first driving job. At the midway point of 2013 and I still hadn't accomplished my resolution of getting into trucking and proving stable income for my family. Up until this point I was just collecting unemployment, working on cars for cash, and donating plasma for cash. There had to be more to life than this and I just wasn't ready to give up just yet. At .10 cpm teaming and as many miles as you could rack up, I didn't have any other choices and I ran with the opportunity.

    http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...company-here/222047-comet-transportation.html

And that brings us to my current company. Seemingly an opportunity that came out of nowhere but it was an employee that worked for them that put in a good word for me despite my minimal experience. Started at .37 cpm solo and as many miles as you can handle. Although it took me well into the second half of 2013 to actually stop living paycheck to paycheck and be able to enjoy life, I don't think that I would have the same appreciation of life without the hard work that I had to put in to get where I am today.

    Miles for last week:
    December 23-December 30 (1860 total miles)

1256 miles (Birmingham, AL-MT. Crawford, VA)
    604 miles (Charlotte, NC-Brooklyn, NY)

    So with all of that said I have my first 6 months of gross earnings in trucking as follows;

Approximately 12,500 total miles ran at Carolina Cargo grossing $2,988.96
Approximately 52,940 total miles ran at Comet Transportation grossing $19,587.62

My approximate 65,440 total miles grosses $22,576.58 for only half of 2013

I'll say that I am complacent with my progress during 2013 and this year should definitely be much better for me

I must have talked this problem into existence. I haven't had any issues with the truck or trailer for some weeks now and just when I started being happy about that, this happens. So I just finished getting unloaded and I'm leaving to head to a truck stop. As I'm approaching a red light for a right turn, I downshift to 6th gear and the light turns green. I'm accelerating but am slowing to a stop. So what could be the problem? I can engage any gear but when I release the clutch I don't move:(

If I saw you running with chains on in the Midwest, I would laugh my butt off. LOL!!!
Even in the "chain required" states of the west....if the roads are bad enough for chains and/or chain laws are up; I am the first to park the truck.....not worth it.
