Hey yall...I have a 2012 pete 587. I want a better antenna for my truck. There are no places to put it on the mirrors. So I have 3 more tries. First one is putting my wilson 5k in the back where the airlines are. Second idea is just get a 101 inch whip and put it back by the air lines. Third I will have to accept the fact I can not put any other types od antennas on this truck. Here is a pic of what my wilson looks like in the back. Also will this work and have less 2swr? 20140101_180409.jpg

Most trucks I see, if not on the mirrors, have it on the side of the sleeper via a side mount. As long as there's metal under the ant. and it's not obscured by the truck it will work. best bet is to check with an SWR meter to ensure you don't have over 2.

It will work with some limitations. The cab and trailer both will block some signal. But it will be better than no antenna.

If your hearing skip, but can't get your name called in DX land..."Buy a Amp"...something as small as a two-pill doing just a couple hundred watts is all you need...Either that, or get a Base set-up at the Home-20 and stick ya a flat-side beam up in the air 30-40'...

I know that feeling only to well ......try googling reputable radio and get in touch with them after spending dollars like that it would be nice to be able to get a long distance copy........
