I don't know if that should have been a good enough reason to fire you unless you wasn't progressing at all during your training and kept making the same mistakes over and over.Shifting takes time and for some alittle longer then others. But once you get it you got it and it'll be lodged in your brain and make smooth up and down shifting every time. You'll eventually get it.
I've been driving for 3 months and my last employer said i wasn't cut out for it!

Yes, iam just discouraged right now and iam looking for new ways to get along with my trainers . It's like me and them are in different worlds.
-
Well whatever the trainer says goes because that's his trk and hes sharing his space with you..Allow him to train you his way and listen and focus to everything he says and does.Don't get smart with him.Next trainer request one with at least a yr preferably more then a yrs exp.Do not get the newbies for trainers. They don't know much more then newbies do pertaining to teaching the newbies the correct and safest way of doing things.Don't pick any company with a horrible reputation, chances are the trainers are just as bad as the company is.You really do need to shop around for a company with the best training.

I just thought i would be,but i don't have a real big fan club either. Thanks,at least i know i'am not alone.
-
Well you need to learn to get along with others especially your trainer otherwise you'll never get qualified.I know its hard its not called boot camp for nothing.Almost everyone on this forum had to go thru training. They didn't like it either. Its not easy on trainers as well. But we all learn to deal with it.So the next company you go there with a positive attitude and youll pass with flying colors.

My trouble is some of my shifting when iam starting from a stop on uneven grade and iam hitting a curb or 2 on tighter turns.
-
You need to plan your turns before making them and trainer should be there guiding you to prevent you from clipping curbs. The tighter turns you may need to take up all the available space meaning all the lanes and make sure no cars are coming..Main thing is start planning your turns before making them.Keep eyes moving at all times and look far ahead.Remember you're driving an 18 wheeler not a car.
Dinomite Thanks this. -
Yea take your time it will work out, out here in this field of work there's nothing but time you can reschedule a load but you reschedule a life
-
Thanks for saying that, the first 2 trainers that i had were o/o ,and it seemed like they were just interested in getting you to become one,and its a little confusing when you don't even know how to trip plan yet.

People keep saying "don't ever give up" This is an 80,000 pound vehicle we are talking about. Some people are not cut out for this.
