Falsifying your log is an automated assumption in this argument. Its about the fact that I know longer have a choice about how to keep my time. When is America and the rest of the world gonna wake up and see we are being replaced by a machine. All those excited about the 2020 Volvo Vision when the driver gets up to go to the bunk, wake up whether the technology is there or not yet isn't the question. Its will you have a job when it is, if they can make it auto drive they can make it bump a dock too. There are more people than ever in the US and fewer jobs, because of automation.
Falsifying my book has nothing to do with the reason I am against electronic logs, and if it was its me going to prison not you so why harp on it. You really think that a O/O like me won't be able to edit his electronic log? I have read of companies already doing it right here on this forum. I run a mechanical eng truck by choice not necessity my point is why be self employed when you don't get to make decisions. If you have a wreck and kill somebody because you were not paying attention but your log is fine every thing legal, it is still wrong. It goes back to you drive your truck and I'll drive mine cause you can't drive both of them.
I Just Heard That E-Logs Will Be Mandatory In 2015

I think the argument is more about EOBR's than electronic logs..
Anyone can use electronic logs, even O/O's with Mechanical engines but, not EOBR's. I don't like that EOBR's tie into your trucks ECM and that is how they (carrier/government) control you. That's another issue with EOBR's, that they tie into the trucks ECM, they won't work on a mechanical engine so, if they become mandatory, what does that mean for those trucks? I stand on the side of freedom and personal responsibility, not Government intrusion, in which it has no power in the first place. That is why I am against EOBR's, not because of electronic logs.wore out, magnum2, WitchingHour and 1 other person Thank this. -

I can garuntee they still do! Where elogs fall down .....before if you were tired you could pull up and have a couple hours snooze, now in order to stay legal and get those high pressure loads done sometimes you gotta drive tired, I've many years experience with them and I don't think they have any safety advantage over log books, you can fudge a log book a bit but not a minute on elog and in Europe they are enforced to the minute and NA will follow. If you value the last bit of freedom you've left on the road..resist them -

And to correct everyone, they are not EOBRs, they are EBSs, (Electronic Baby Sitters). The big companies push them because they can barely train someone to drive their trucks let alone spend the time to teach them how to fill out a LEGAL log book. The other reason the big companies are pushing this, they can alter the logs as they see fit and don't have to worry about a driver doing that on a paper log and getting put OOS for a log violation.
I saw an ad for an electronic log, it's $299 with 6 months FREE subscription service. (Which, it's doesn't say what that service will cost.) It SAYS it saves you the $70 a year you'd spend on log books. Funny, I can buy 4 YEARS of logbooks for the cost of this ELog and DON'T have to spend who knows how much, on a subscription for this. Who's drinking the koolaid there?Last edited: Jan 5, 2014

I suppose the inboard facing cameras that will be rammed down out throat soon in both trucks and locomotives will magically keep the operator from falling asleep knowing big brother is watching him? ill bet the gubment officials whose job consist of dreaming this #### up will sleep really well at night after they have had there dinner and evening walk on there 9am to 3pm schedules. They have done a fantastic job making the average American feel warm and fuzzy inside being our roads are so much safer.

And what with this 30 min break dang it its amazing how you always get out a bit later and then you have to stop 20 min from destination to take a 30 min break before the breaks over I would have been shut down and in bed but no make me sit up and stay awake an extra 45 min for stopping taking the break and getting going again.barnmonkey Thanks this.
