    hi, my name is Sam

i have a rough 10 year work history, i got hurt on the job and had sugery that took realy long to get worked out so i dont have many companies to choose from.

so far i got a written pre hire from us express and got an email stating they were interested from werner. im still waiting to hear back from trans am and western express.

i have 3 kids and a wife so i need decent pay to keep the house running. i passed my hazmat and am posibly going to try my tanker and doubles/ tripples next week. are there any other companies i should be trying to get into that service the north east ?

any input would be great thanks in advance Sam

Werner was a terrible experience for me western is a good company to get your foot in the door cant say much about the other ones since i havent worked for them. Western will get you home easily being in the northeast they mainly run 81 and 95. Basically if youre passing by your house off one of those highways to just stop in and say hey you probably wont hear anything about it as long as your load is picked up and/or delivered on time.

Here's some companies to research with good pay and benefits:
    Tankers you can make $60K+
    Flatbed you can make $50K+

    Superior Carriers
    Schneider Bulk
Melton Truck Lines(excellent healthcare for driver & family)

For tankers you need TWIC also; Google will show the nearest TWIC office.
Your unemployed time can be covered with notorized doctors letter or notorized letter from family or friend that you were unemployed and looking for full time work and doing odd handyman jobs while looking for full time work.

Good idea on the TWIC. With the tanker/hazmat & TWIC you will be prepared to jump to tankers if it doesn't work out with Western or Werner. Just depends on what you consider decent pay. Better ask those Western and Werner drivers you deal with about takehome pay. What they're making on those dedicated accounts will usually be more than what they would make running general freight.

I was told i could park my car at the springfield terminal. Got there for orientation they said i needed paperwork i didnt have so i drove back home to get it went back they told me i actually couldnt park at the terminal drove back home took a greyhound up there. Get there sit in a hotel for about a week befors they tell about six of us they have no trainers in the area. They then bus us to wisconsin where our trainers will meet us. My trainer picks me up. His truck was disgusting. We get to a drop off point and i found ten bottles of piss in the cubby hole in the top bunk. He then informs me hell be going home for 5 days and has me follow him driving his personal vehicle to a truck stop in eagan minnesota. While hes home his truck breaks diwn in the middle of winter in minnesota with him not answering the phone and having no ci.tact numbers for anyone but my recruiter who was less than helpful in the entire situation. Im not saying its a bad company some people love it there but my experiece was terrible.

That whole process took a month. I saw more of the country on a greyhound than i did a truck.

I would look into Schneider because it offers what you have posted above with training and chances are they have a terminal near your home
