I am not really sure of the tone of your post.. but many vets do choose to park in bad weather because they know how quickly things can go very wrong out there.. even if you are an expert driver doing everything right you can't assume all the other drivers on the road are good drivers.. and part of being a professional driver is knowing when to get off the road.. a late load is better than a tipped load..
Also, don't risk the whole truck, trailer and load to save a mirror.. the drivers mirror may not have been damaged in the roll over, but I am guessing the passenger mirrors were, as well as the truck, the trailer and the load...
Just because the police officer didn't ticket him and calls it an accident.. that is not how a carrier or safety department will see it...
I feel bad for the driver.. it is ashame that he was not taught to not move over to avoid bumping mirrors, especialy with little to no shoulder... because anytime you do you risk a Roll Over...
Rolled my truck

Enid, OK. There's a ton out here, just a little worried based on limited experience and such a big accident. I have reinstatement rights at my last job so im not worried about going hungry just want to stay in trucking.

night
on a small two lane country highway with no shoulders and deep ditches
winds were gusting about 20 mph
Snow
traveling about 55 in a 65
70,000 gross
dude.....don't mean to harsh your mellow......but, what you said is why you were in the ditch. I wish the very best for you, and if you get a second chance here, slow down. Had a dude try to pass me on the shoulder the other night......man, what are people thinking???Raiderfanatic and Tonythetruckerdude Thank this. -

55 mph seems a little too fast on a narrow 2 lane with no shoulder and high winds. My guess is somewhere between 45 and 50 would have been more appropriate for the conditions. Don't care what anyone else on that highway thinks either; it's not their career at stake.

glad that your ok. As much as it sucks you will probably lose your job but no matter what they decide you will be able to live your life , no one got killed and that's all that really matters
Seen many jackknifed rigs on 70 in CO today so your not the only that had bad luck last night and sometimes that's all it is luck between dodging other drivers and some ####### moves and road conditions that can change it a half a heartbeat. and equipment that messes up at the worst of times. Learn from it and I am sure you will get a new job if you loss this one.
When I started I made a few mistakes all the company said was I bet you wont do that again I did not roll one but they had to do some body work on a car.Skydivedavec and Chewy352 Thank this. -
Sorry to hear that Man that sucks... I was in Nebraska yesterday and felt that wind all the way up there it sucked....
Hopefully you will get another job I'm sure you will... One thing for sure you should have stayed where you were located in the lane and hold your ground... When its windy and snowy like yesterday any extra movement of the wheel can easily do what it did to you...In the future brother a mirror is an easy fix a roll over isn't... Looks like you tried to do the "right" thing and got over cautious and it bit you in the behind... Hopefully with the Troopers letter and what not England with have a little sympathy... Keep us posted...Skydivedavec Thanks this. -
I'm just asking, but I don't ever recall being on a posted 65 mph road that was only a 2 lane with no shoulder? Was it under construction? usually narrow 2 lanes are not posted 65 mph? Im not familiar with this area or road so just wondering Or did I misunderstand?
Skydivedavec Thanks this. -
Does'nt sound like a rollover, more like you got sucked in.There was no damage to the load or trk was there?I think your boss will probably write you up and put on you a probationary period.Things happen in the winter and I've seen and heard awhole lot worse things then what you did.
