what someone should do before he pokes fun at someone's use of language or spelling, he should first PROOFREAD his own post to make sure it is correct. what you meant to say is he is DEFINITELY from Jackson ,Al not that he is DEFIANTLY from Jackson, AL. it is a whole different meaning entirely, and by the way , its considered bad form on here to whack people for their spelling and such.

just make sure your pot isn't black before calling the kettle out on it.

Your BMI is 34.3. According to http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/guidelines/obesity/BMI/bmicalc.htm you are in the obesity category, not just overweight. I'm not trying to sound rude or judge you, but it is unlikely that you will be able to get a flatbed job do to your weight. This is unfortunete becuase flatbed is a great way to get in better shape without working to hard. (at least it worked for me) 225 would put you in the "overweight" category and might give you better options. Not sure if you were considering trying to loose weight, but it would make any trucking job easier for you. Also if you wear tall boots and call yourself 6'2 that would help lower your bmi.

Truth is, flatbed securement can be strenuous and you need the stamina to finish the job. Many men your weight simply don't. Thats not to say you don't, but they use a formula. (of course you will have a much easier time getting the strap tight then me, since I weigh 150 i don't have enough weight on the bar.) If your really set on flatbed, then call up the companies your interested in after applying and explain you do have what it takes. Tell them your willing to prove it and are happy to do any physical test they need.

Can you climb onto the back of a trailer? Can you lift a 120 pound tarp onto a load 4 foot high? Can you stand on one leg for 60 seconds? These are some of the test TMC uses.

That's a crock. According to them is skeleton with skin. I started where I am a bit over a year ago in vans. 5'10 275. Now 225 and I'm in flatbed. Yeah I got flagged for bs sleep study, they did a half jacked home one and then said I needed to buy their machine. Well I need the job, so I'm playing the game. But considering finding a lawyer to take on possible class action against these sleep study places that are jacking a high percentage of drivers. And before any of the sleep apnea people come on and say oh yes it's a problem. I know it is, FOR SOME, not the ridiculous amount that are getting robbed.

It seems like a bad joke. Us fat guy can't breathe properly at night so the doctors call it a condition and name it sleep apnea. There are lots of other conditions they could name for those of us who are overweight. How about "stuckinchairosis" because its harder for heavier folks to get up?

I believe I have what they call sleep apnea. I don't bother trying to put a name on it. I just need to get to the gym and eat a lot better.

Actually healthy people are almost skinny, its our American society that makes "heavy" people think they are fit.

Something like 12-16% body fat is healthy for males..

Heres an idea of what you might look like inside at a 'healthy' 250lbs.

So if I'm at 32% or increase my body fat to get up to 32%, I'd be twice as healthy as a skinny person?

Climb, heck I can jump up on it using one hand of coarse. Pretty sure I can carry two of those tarps at once....sounds pretty simple, honestly.

Truckon not all healthy people are skinny! Healthy people in general are lean.
" Skinny simply refers to being of small circumference size (diameter of arms, legs, etc.) and weight, especially when in relationship to your height. Believe it or not, skinny people often do NOT possess the low body fat one might expect due to their low muscle mass in relationship to what body fat they do have.

Lean people, on the other hand, possess a much higher amount of lean body mass (mostly muscle) coupled with a very low amount of body fat. For example, two 40 year old men could both stand 5’7” and weigh 150 lbs; however, one might be skinny and have 14% body fat while the other is lean with 7% body-fat. The one with the lower body fat (at the same weight and height) will have much more muscle than his counterpart."
