After reading that response, what"s the point, it's obvious he does not get it, does not own it, jumps to the defensive, contradict"s himself, minimizing it, and still looking for an easy way out. Wonder if he said to his former boss, what do you mean i"m fired, for something as trivial as failing a drug test, dam the nerve of that guy
Failed drug test

If you wanted to keep your job, you should've kept off the pipe. Simple. And here's the kicker. Forget 2 years. That failed drug test is staying on there for quite a while. If you were willing to do anything to keep your job, that willingness should have kept you from getting high. Most companies won't look at you for years. And that's on you. There's this new thing we do out here. Thinking. If not, it tends to cost us our jobs and careers. I'm certain that your next job in the foodservice industry will not drug test. Toke away my friend.
bergy Thanks this. -

Did"t know witch Joseph you were talking about, me or Joseph1135, that"s why i quoted you (post 21 ) in my response, because 1135 had not posted anything yet, an i"m still not sure witch one of us you men"t, but i sure do agree with Joe 1135.bergy and joseph1135 Thank this.

joewispers - lol - good response, but I was actually talking about Joseph1135.
"Help I failed a drug test - will this affect my career?" Joseph's replies always have me cracking up - usually a variation of "would you like fries with that" Post #22 is true to form.
Maybe I'm a little twisted, but I would actually pay a subscription if I could read one of these each morning with my coffee.joseph1135 Thanks this. -
My whole point to Enviro is self evident, look we all make mistakes, and some would argue me putting it that way, and would say it"s a conscious decision an could argue that all day long, not here for that, my point as well as others on this thread is getting documented help ala my what do you have for the boss, left hand rite hand senario to show that you own what you did and went to a "program" and are now clean & sober. And some of the other things he said tells anyone with half a brain that he is not owning it. Some of the things he said to me in his response is LUDICROUS, an i an"t talkin about the rapper.
As to your own situation can"t say, don"t know all the details, but i would follow the advice posted in this thread as relates to a program, it sure as hell can"t hurt your cause, I have an analogy, you get in trouble, you get a lawyer, you have info. that could help your cause, do you let your lawyer walk into court with an empty gun, or a loaded one, you get my drift. You need something to offset something, you tell me what you think as far as anything i"m saying, but in the end it"s on you as to the choice you make to better your situation. -
Joe - I think you may have me confused with another poster. I don't have a situation or cause - not a driver yet.
-
Hey guys. I am a chemical engineer, not a truck driver. I have a job right now, and its an upgrade to the one I lost due to the DOT drug test. I realize most of your posts are probably bait for me to get upset, but its not going to happen. I know my career possibilities and I'm not worried. I own up to the fact that I smoked marijuana. Hell, I used to smoke with my boss. It is in fact pretty trivial in my situation. I'm just trying to figure out if I want to pursue jobs where the DOT is involved, or go with one of the hundreds of other options I have. Thanks to those who have been useful. Joewispers and Joseph1135, you might want to review the rules of this board about starting flame wars and insulting others.
-
I don't flame. My take on drug use is very well documented here. Be a grown up.
-
I respect your views joseph1135. You simply don't know my situation. Like I said, I am not a trucker. This DOT thing isn't going to hold me back but you seem intent on telling me my next job will be in the food service industry.
