I read an article in the USA Today a few weeks ago that claims by the year 2050 all vehicles both private and commercial will be driverless. Hard to think this job will go by the wayside like black smithing.

Yeah and remember when they said by the year 2000, we'd have flying cars.
-
I think that before trucks and airplanes are automated, that freight trains will be "unmanned". With dedicated tracks and no other traffic concerns, that would be my first choice to automating an existing carrier.....That being said, I don't think it will happen until lobby groups and government aren't so "cozy".
-
ehh I think the most funny one was the Y2k prediction, I could see the flying cars before the y2k lol -
This sounds like eutopia lol

wont happen. lets say the driverless truck gets to a customer. hey truck back in door 10. How is the truck gonna back in door 10?
-
the same way we can fly a missile through a window a thousand miles away. this tech will trickle down.
-
I will start worrying when they mass produce them and they can hook up a set and break em up and put the pups in the doors.
-
The missile technology has a far greater margin for error, the driverless truck? Nope. I'll take the missile technology over the driverless technology. And another thing, we have better results with the missile anyway.
-
Missiles miss from time to time. Driverless cars, of which there will be many more, will wreck as well. I don't see people liking that. I don't see governments or the legal system allowing that.
