When the driverless truck arrives, I'll buy it and finally live my dream of becoming an O/O. It works, while I sit at home choking the chicken!!

ya ever fly the big jets with flight computers? Before 9/11 they used to leave the doors open sometimes. I've seen planes land without the pilot or co pilot touching the stick until the wheels hit the ground. I'm admitting not a pilot, so im sure you have way more knowledge here, but from what i have seen and read the big birds can land themselves. (boeing/ airbus) The a380 doesn't even need a tug for reverse. ILS is a becon at most commercial airports and from what i understand gives the flight computer a glide slope. On cesna's they cant land themselves but the Boeings can get a glide slope and slide right in.

They have automated passenger trains at many airports as well as in washington DC

They make cars that can parallel park all by themselves. This isnt to much harder lol

Some of the big mines have fully automated trucks. These trucks can drive all over the mine, back up to load and dump and do all sorts of things. The technology has its base. There are carriers that have researched having a lead truck with a couple of driverless trucks following it.
As much as it scares me to think that My chosen profession may be in danger, the logistics and the engineering behind it all is just fascinating!
But one thing I thought of is this, say We now have Cars and Trucks that are fully able to drive themselves, would We be mandated to let the car drive uless it needed our input or would We still have the option of driving it ourselves
